Great! Like I said, I'll be interested to know if you can see the Nano's clock bouncing down to around 800-900MHz while playing games or benchmarks.

It does bounce. A lot. On both Unreal 2016, DOOM, and some regular 3DMark runs i've made it barely hits 900 MHz. Even running BOINC, which is more shader-oriented than ROP-oriented, it hits roughly 900-920 MHz. Unless you raise the power limit, you're guaranteed to never hit that 1000 MHz rating.

Nanos!

I am doing a mod to survive this BOINC Pentathlon on my Nano (pictured below). Thing is, i cannot get it to display anything unless a fan is connected to the card's connector. Is there any way to fix it? I highly doubt the card will feed my Panaflo fan as it deserves at full tilt, since it needs roughly 5-6w (the other cable is a temp probe to the VRMs). I could get it to run with the fan plugged in, however it was awkwardly hanging inside my case.

Mod works tho, from 82c core and 95c VRM, i'm now down to 71c core and 80c VRM, with 35% power limit. In BOINC, that much is like 95% guaranteed to stay at 100%, there are some dips in usage, but those may be due how the task is being done on BOINC rather than power limitations.

I like it! What does your core clock do at 35% power limit with the extra cooling?

I haven't tried OCing, and i'm reluctant to OC this card due to the VRM limitations. I actually need to get an undervolted BIOS (have a couple to try, which are meant for bitcoin mining) so i can continue lowering temps.

On 35% power limit, i still see some throttling while upscaling videos with madVR (using NNEDI 32 neurons) and i do not flatline 1000 MHz on gaming, though it does get there. I will be running all those tests this weekend, though i'm more focused on setting everything up for the Pentathlon in a week.

Have you considered running a splitter off a fan to mb and GPU using a jumper from the GPU to one of the splitter legs? This may solve your issue aND you may be able to rund it without the fan mod? headscratch.gif

You, sir, are a genius. That really did the trick. Used a spare PWM splitter i had, since i ordered two of them very recently (one to use on my X58 to drive the PWM signal on two Delta 38mm fans without burning the power connector on my mobo and one spare)

However, i'm still convinced there should be a less MacGyver-y way of doing this, otherwise waterblocks wouldn't work alone.

I am all about the quick an dirty paper clip and ducttape fixes when it's the logical trick to make things work. Been known to use bubble gum also. cool.gif

Well, i found a perfect BIOS for BOINC, courtesy of Eliovp. Who would've thought BIOSes tuned for Bitcoin mining would be decent for BOINC. BIOS has 1000 MHx @ -100mv in core, 575 MHz @+50mv in HBM. HBM OC allowed a small increase in FireStrike Ultra, from 3777 Graphics score to 3832 Graphics score. Plus, the core undervolting allowed me to go from 35% poweer limit to just 15% to get within spitting distance of the 1000 MHz (goes from 995 to 1000 MHz). And i've gone down from 71c core and 80c VRM to a measly 63c core and 71c VRM with my Panaflo fan.

If i ever had any regrets in getting a Nano over a Fury X, they are gone now biggrin.gif

RX Vega is shaping up to be a huge failure. No wonder AMD has been hiding it since the beginning. According to Guru3D's newest leak, it is slightly overclocked FuryX with 14nm.mad.gif

Seriously good job AMD, you managed to **** up the high end for 2 years in a row.

If you read what people have said, and look into it. This is just made up based on nerd math and guessing...

TBH I call BS on this since my 3840 Fury's can push out 6K on a single card. AMD isn't that stupid.
