I don't think that's necessarily the case. The 295X2 only has 2 8-pin connectors also, and it is two full Hawaii chips.

true but 290x was only a 6 and an 8, so 2 X 8pin is still more... Just intrigued how it can pull enough power to run 2 fully clocked Fiji XTs with the same power connectors used to run 1. Fury X has 2 8pin...

Is it due to a lack of the dude still having a fury x to play with?

hmm

Z77 is probably a hybrid UEFI/BIOS which is giving you the problems. Works fine on every Z97/Z170/X99 board I've used. Even works on FM2+.

hmm i don't know but with the internal gpu of the cpu (3770K and 2600K) uefi ultra fast boot on my Z77 Asrock Xtreme 6 works like a charm - also my old msi 7970 lightning worked perfect with uefi ultra fast boot - just the Sapphire fury trix gives me an error and won't boot with uefi on

only way to get machine working again is to make a cmos reset so ultra fast boot is not set anymore ...

Hoping to get a Fury X soon, does any of the reference cards fit the Aqua computer water blocks?

Well there is your problem already, the 7970 Lightning is NOT a UEFI vBIOS, so your board is using a hybrid or legacy mode for fast-boot with that.

well you are right the 7970 lightning has no uefi bios @ stock wink.gif

but the msi support gave out real uefi gop bioses for 7970 lighting and 7970 lighting boost edition when you requested it - within their official forums - what i did smile.gif so my lightning definitly had uefi gop bios and it worked perfectly with win 8.1 and this z77 mobo in ultra fast boot modus as i said

If you look at the Powercolor 290x II Devil 13 air cooled dual core with 4-8 pin connectors.

non binned chips, plus they might just be playing it safe by adhering to PCI connector specs.
