Because AMD didn't care about drawing more power through the 8-pin cables than the specification calls for and well the Fury X doesn't use all of the power available to it either.

Anyone has a fury X on a mini ITX build?
If so, what case did you use?

Cheers!

PCi-E power specifications say an 8-pin power cable can deliver 150 Watts and you can pull 75 watts from the board.

So Fury X[2]'s power configuration maxes at 375W.

So, yeah, AMD may skirt the line with an X2, and maybe gently step over it thumb.gif

What part of they didn't care about drawing more power through the 8-pins than the specification calls for did you not understand? The 295X2 doesn't care about the power draw spec for 8-pin cables thumb.gif

Isn't it more likely that fury x2 is going to (2) 175w nano's?

Tell that to the 500W 295X2.

That was the point of my original post, but it seems that cards are capable of drawing more power than the spec allows. I wasn't aware of this...

If this is the case, what is preventing the nano drawing 250w from its single 8-pin connector and basically performing like a fury X? I assume the BIOS is what determines the power draw, but can this not be modified?
