That's not true.....

Fury seems to do fine with 3rd part air cooling.

What I am curious about, is that I saw an overvolted Fury X card hitting 100C on the VRM's, but with some of the third party air coolers on the 390 series, VRM's can be kept in the 70's-80's pretty easily, so I am wondering if the air cooling solutions are doing as good of a job with VRM cooling as the 390 series cards, and is there a chance having much cooler VRM's on the Fury Pro may give it a better shot of overclocking with additional voltage when it becomes available to us?

I tried shoving a temp probe into the Vcore VRM on my Fury Tri-X when I was running 1.3V core and I couldn't get a reading above 70 or 80C IIRC. So I think the air cooled cards have better VRM temps than the water cooled cards. However I didn't really test properly. I'll be able to get proper results around Xmas when I go home.

Ok, I'm pretty angry right about now.

Just recieved my new Fury X, with pump noise / whine and it had scratches on the backplate, and on the fan itself, i.e the XFX logo that is glued to the fan centre, also the protective plastic on the centre of fan was obviously removed.

Funny thing is that the retailer ensured me they recieved this card from the manufacturer early october ( I wanted to make sure that it was a late produced card ) and the outer box was factory sealed, in other words, it seems that XFX has just repackaged this card, most likely it is a used one from the first batch.

I'm never going to buy anything from XFX again, nor will I recommend the to anyone, quite the contrary, this is the rock bottom I have ever experienced as a customer.

The card is going back to the retailer, and yeah, not much more to it and don't know what to do next, order another Fury X and risk the same thing, maybe SAPPHIRE can be trusted to actually send NEW cards.

By core i mean GPU.

*In my understanding AMD clocks should be just fine for 1080p 60, I usually lock the frame rate to 60, anything more is not too noticible.

Yes, the third party coolers for the Fury cards seem to be stellar.

The retailer is not important, the box was factory sealed, pointing to the fact that XFX has recieved an early batch card with pump noise and just repackaged it and sent it back to the retailer.

Yeah, I'm surprised myself, never had anything like this happen to me either, could be an honest mistake, but the likelyhood of that happening is very low.

I been looking into what Fury card to buy for months, and I have concluded that ASUS Fury Strix runs coolest, the VRM never went above 75c, however I do not know if it was due to the IR camera not being able to penetrate the backplate.

The Sapphire card VRM runs at around 100-110c.

The Fury X 100-110c.

These temps are during Furmark, I have found the information on youtube (Toms Hardware IR camera) and on various reviews that uses thermal imaging.

Hope it helps somewhat.
