[Official] AMD R9 Radeon FURY / NANO / X / Pro DUO FIJI Owners Club - Page 504

After testing a little more, it's clear that the HBM is the star of the show on the fury....

At 1080p, where the frame buffer is less needed, the Fiji core shows only a marginal 3-10% at best over my "old" 390....

Considering the much higher amount of shaders, that's not that impressive... I attribute this to AMD not increasing the ROP count...

However, as we get into higher resolutions, where the frame buffer performance is key, the Fury comes alive, and blatantly outperforms the Hawaii/Grenada cards... Mind you, my 390 was running 8gb at 1750mhz and if i recall correctly, was putting up over 42* something GB of bandwidth, which is obserd prior to HBM, and yet, in 4k testing, the 512gb+ HBM equipped Fury absolutely dominates the 390....

At 1080 testing, my overclocked 390 was basically performing the same as the fury.... (Though the fury was faster than the stock 390 by a slight bit)

At 4k in Crysis3 though, using very high graphics settings, and high system spec, the Fury is getting 15-20fps more than the 390... It's outstanding!

How is overclocking going? Are you using latest GPUz for VRM sensor (I'm surprised it hasn't detected one is all).

Proportionally how much fast is that? 30 vs 45 FPS, because that's huge!

Hello !

My very 1st machine was a chiligreen[only known here in austria] amd/ati complete pc with a 9500 and a 9700 pro from ati, hell yeah eleven years ago!

The way i went away from their gpu's, was that they died after a few months.

But all that dependeds on that 1st machine and that techguy that tried to repair it more than 7 times [whole machine was never stable].

So after getting more than mad/bored i finally got a refund.

So here i am changing from the green to the red team as i'm not willing to give nvidia's practices and business anymore money or even attention!

After spending nearly 3 months of testing and fixing instabilities on a 980 classified, a friend told me, he really needs a better gpu, so i sold it to him and he is very happy with it!

A new GPU is in my mind since this year has started, but after doing research lasting for months my thought's came back to....read below.

Last week i wanted to order a 980 FTW, but as i read about the issues the FTW model has, i kindly asked them if they could gave me the option to have a sapphire r9 fury instead...which they accepted!

My main cause is that i really have enough of the green team and what they've done the past years.

I don't list it up to prevent a war between the green and red camp.

A few questions
  • One thing that was really good after switching back to my old GTX 670 FTW was the input lag and the IQ the GTX 980 did well… can I expect something good IQ on the Fury?
  • Is the Gaming Evolved App anything good for, or is it similar to geforce experience?
  • Will an i7 2700K be enough for her? It was enough for the 980, but that doesn't count anymore!

I have so far that the best clock for the HBM is actually around 530MHz.... It will bench higher, but it gets driver crashes past 550, and it scores lower past 530 so far....

As far as the core goes, I have tested as much as I'd like yet..... I have 1075 nailed down, but I don't think she's going to do much more. The core voltage only reports as 1.204 under load, which is lower than the 1.24+/- that I believe the tri-x cards run at.....

If I could dump some more juice through it, I'm sure I could nail down 1125-1150, which would greatly impact performance I believe....

Still no VRM sensor, but no biggie, I'd be shocked if it was breaking 80c, or maybe even lower than that.

This cooler is designed by PowerColor and will be the same as their PCS version of the Fury.

PowerColor has a great track record with their PCS line of coolers....

As far as performance versus the 390....

At 4k, my 390 @ 1200/1700 would average about 54FPS in Crysis 3 with Very High details, High System Spec settings.... this card is averaging around 68FPS, but the minimum FPS is 10FPS higher, and the max FPS is about 20 frames higher in some cases!

* From what I understand you need alot of VRMs to O.C., though it seems that AMD has a few tricks with how it's VRM's process sinwaves to reduce frame buffer times through their VRM;s.

* I like the framerates its getting in Crysis 3 @ 4K, I wonder if it can do VSR on a 1080p set and put out over 60 FPS, that would be interesting.

* My GTX 780 ti averaged 30-40FPS @ 4K, and scaling was average @ 1080p 40- 55 FPS.. Remarkably the low framerates where not too noticable, it played really smooth even at 37-454 FPS really good code.

Catalyst is EOL!

* Radeon has ditched the 12 Year Driver control center Catalyst - And will be introducing - Radeon Software- Similar to Nvidia Gforce Experience. With Each Game O.C specifically and controlled.

New software look good, at least from pictures.
I doubt they will implement something revolutionary.
Even most advanced users and gamers try to escape from NVIDIA Experience for any cost.
News that NVIDIA want to force people to install that with driver cause rage and revolt in people.
the game specific OC is nice. I can run some really heavy games at 1170mhz core but less GPU heavy games like Toxikk and Tera crash for some odd reason so I need to run those at 1145

GeForce Experience is purely worthless garbage. Forcing it is a terrible idea.

Whatever do you mean? I love my Gfarce Experience. It goes perfectly with my 970 which has 4gb... ahem... I mean 3.5gb of RAM. biggrin.gif
