Was just trying to make a statement, was also not really directing it towards him.

Well, I for one will be joining the club very soon. I'm updating my system and I'm going to to my hand at a showcase system. I've been building for years but until this year, I haven't really pushed any of my systems as far as I could.
I still don't know what Fury I will be getting but more than likely get the Nano. Painkiller's suggestions have me leaning to a Fury non x but something in the back of my mind thinks a mini system for the living room would be nice and a Nano or two would transfer to a mini case well.
But, for funzies, I'm making a all AMD build.
FX 9590
crosshair V
(a yet unknown Fury card)
R9 Radeon SSD
R9 Radeon 2400 RAM
.....etc.

I really don't care about how well the 980ti runs. A handful of FPS over 60 is meaningless to me. I will say nothing makes me as envious and simultaneously happy for others like computer hardware so Voodoo, happy for your very expensive purchase. I have about 1200 to burn and something like that sounds tempting.

That is for DirectX 11, however for DirectX 12 they may tie (1500MHz vs 1200MHz overclock for Nvidia and AMD) or the Fury X may even be a little better. At the moment, and probably for at least a year, AMD graphic cards just have a worse performance in games. There are just too many AAA games still in production and popular that do not use DirectX 12/Vulkan/Mantle.

Are you honestly suggesting he should get two 980 TI for SLI? I think that idea is a retarded proposition I could understand telling him to go for a single gpu setup but if he's going for a dual setup the Fury X is still the better deal.

I will admit that fury X crossfire profiles have been very slow to get out the door recently since crimson came in, but nvidia have not been too much faster.

With Fury X2 on the horizon I think that the pace of profile updates will increase significantly. It would make very little sense to release a dual GPU card with the intent of capitalising on the VR niche without improving multi-gpu support. As far as the Fiji crossfire, my experience has been an anecdotal 95% positive. My previous primary gaming rig was actually 770 SC's in SLi and I can honestly say that I prefer Crossfire's implementation. The profiles may have been a bit quicker with Nvidia, but the system (which to be fair has been improved from it's earliest inception) is still much more finicky than Crossfire. I'm able to run a Fury X and a Fury in Crossfire at the same clock speed (~1125 for gaming typically) to no ill effect. I've also had better luck getting Crossfire to stick in non-profile'd games with the 16.1.1 driver. It's not all roses but I feel the forward momentum.

So the new beta completely fixed downclocking for me!

The Fury series did have a rough start but it is not a terrible card. I can say that all of my AMD cards have had a long life and continued support for a very long time with continued improvements.

Sorry, but no chance 4k is acceptable on one fury X for fallout 4 unless you're playing on medium - low settings or you're happy playing at 30fps... I have slightly better setup and need to crank down to 1440p to keep 60fps. Even then it drops into the 40s sometimes.

My laptop with 8gb 980m actually provides a better experience in fallout 4 than my fury X.

You playing on 16.1.1? The only thing I turned down was tessellations. Even 16.1 was fine. Also what's your overclock? Also are you throttling? I have to use Clock Blocker in Fallout 4 but the game runs fine.
