Nah, there are always silly nVidia fanboys to take advantage of. Just sell them off.

I also think I'm getting this HDMI 2.0 cable to play it safe. I have using DP currently. Funny but before my fury I didn't even think to entrain 4K. I'm excited.

PS if anyone any suggestions on a really good HDMI 2.0 cable please post.

Thanks Arizonian. I didn't realize that you had moved over too. I know you weren't thrilled about NV's "disclosure" faux pas, to put it politely, related to the 970s. And, I have been explicitly or implicitly threatening to dump Nvidia for a while... Lol, as I just don't like the direction that Nvidia is headed in, both practically and philosophically speaking. From a consumer standpoint, Nvidia has been taking its install base for granted for far too long.... Lol. Anyway, I digress, I think you and I have been on a similar upgrade path since the
690 days smile.gif.
You are a conscientious fella, and you always do thorough research before making a purchase (heck I think I just piggybacked off your research when I bought one of my monitors...lol I believe it was the Dell monitor... lol)
Me on the other hand, I am programmed to shoot first, and ask questions later (figuratively speaking, of course)..lol . Call it a necessary job hazard tongue.gif.

In any event, looking forward to having fun with this card until Polaris is released. smile.gif

@provost Here are my OC results if you like to use to compare.

My Nitro Fury Benchmarks Post

If your benching I'd just go straight to 1175 on Core with +96 mV - Gaming without voltage 1100 with just +50% power limit is all you need. I'm going to wager your nitro can same no problem biggrin.gif

Hey guys,

I ordered a new fury and its coming in very soon. I hope to join the club and possibly try ocing a little. Quick question. What is the performance difference between a normal fury and the nitro version? I was set on getting a nitro, then newegg decided to get greedy and raised the price. I went with the regular fury from superbiz. I cant wait!

Very nice benchmarking thread.. I'm curious to know when u benched at 1160 and 1175.. did u try running Valley over an extended period? My card crashes after 5-10 mins even with fans at 100% and core is around 60,when it crashes, so i am suspecting the VRM to overheat. I ordered new thermal pads for the VRM and Gelid Extreme for the GPU.. Gonna be interesting to test with that smile.gif

Now that you brought that up, ironically I was originally looking at 144Hz IPS Gsync monitor so I bought 2 970's in preparation rather than SLI 780ti's with only 3GB VRAM I felt go with an extra gig for a little longevity. I would have never purchased them for just 512 MB VRAM more than my 780ti at 1440. Luckily I have two 1080p monitors on other rigs so I split them and put them to good use. I do not plan on getting rid of my 970s on my other rigs I maintain anytime soon. They are a great value at 1080p and by the time I'm done with them there, probably one of the best. Least to say that changed everything as far as main rig.

Other reasons like Gameworks, green initiative, GeForced experience, Non-acceptance of VESA Async standard give me pause. A company becomes great making awesome graphics cards but can lose sight when they put their stockholders in front of their end-users. Either way as a consumer at the end of the day it doesn't bother me all I have to do is use my dollars elsewhere, luckily we still have choice. Yet I can only say this in an AMD club setting with less fear of disagreement. tongue.gif

Having said that I also feel AMD restructuring is poised well with thier architecture with upcoming DX12 and we are already seeing games coming out supporting it. I feel DX12 will be norm much sooner than anticipated. On single GPU I have no issues gaming which is all that matters. Good luck on yours.

Ordered the XG2700 this morning will be here Wensday. First 4K Async with HDMI 2.0 to support full UHD at 60 Hz. smile.gif

Congrats smile.gif

I've been watching the prices since November. There has been at some point a fury on sale for $499 quite often. First TriX, XFX DDD at 499.99, then Nitro OC at $479.99. Prices go back up maybe for a couple weeks and it or something else will come on sale again in that range. Just shop around like you did is the way to do it. $499.99 is the sweet spot.

No I did not run it for a lengthy period of time. I let it go through one complete pass to load textures and then I run my benchmark. I will usually do this twice and take the best result. Does gaming marathon on SWBF for 5 hours clocked at 1160 core on Saturday count?

HBM memory OC of 50 MHz gave me 10C increase in temp and 5 FPS in SOM. I keep memeory *cough* at stock. Unless something changes poor OC results will be no different with HBM2. Not end of world the amount of memory bandwidth at stock not shabby at all.

@jamaican voodoo congrats on your crossfires.

Thanks! This would give me a running start, as I am fairly green (or shall I say not red enough yet... Lol) when it comes to AMD cards. Much appreciated. smile.gif

Congrats smile.gif .

Well, Congrats on your new monitor purchase too! I have been lukewarm on the whole VRR monitors due to not wanting to lock myself into an ecosystem, but now that I have decided which way my future purchases will be directed, I may also pick up async (Which is vendor agnostic, well for AMD and Intel anyway, right?... Lol) and it doesn't hurt that I wouldn't have to pay relatively hefty premium for the privilege of locking myself into an ecosystem... Lol

I can probably check some of the same boxes, and then some for my reasons to move to AMD after being on Nvidia platform for five plus years , and having owned pretty much every high end NV card until Maxwell... Lol. But, since you me mentioned shareholders, etc, I don't believe that Nvidia's current strategy is even good for them, but that's a discussion for another place and time, and may be it will make for a good case study at some of the B-schools one day, starting with Stanford.. tongue.gif
