The vendor has offered to take the card in for testing, they told me they will run the card for hours in Furmark etc for a full 24 HRS.
Who is this vendor?

It is just the local store I bought it from, I asked them what kind of tests they do and they said that they do alot but among them are 12-24HR Furmark, which sounds extremely punishing.

I don't want to name them here in this thread though, their intentions are not bad.

Yeah, I have been considering that. This is occured with all Crimson drivers, I can't recall if it happened prior to Crimson, maybe worth rolling back to the last Catalyst and try it out before I ship the card.

Funny thing is, everything is working good 95% of the time, these errors happen sporadically and infrequently.

Fair enough, but I'd be hesitant about handing over my card to them.

Perhaps reinstalling your drivers or just writing it off as behavior limited to a couple of titles would be an equitable solution for you?

Yeah, been considering that too, thing is, in my country the first 6 months it is up to the vendor to prove that the customer has caused the fault, after 6 months it is the customer that has to prove that the card is faulty. i.e it is harder in the future to get it replaced.

But you are right though, it is just a few titles that have problems, and if the card breaks down completely they will swap it out, 6 months or not.

I'l do some more tests and see what happens.

I need some advice from you guys,

I bought a XFX R9 Nano in november last year, I love this little guy to bits even though I got him in a E-ATX system. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the performance and the form factor and everything else about it.

Thing is, the last month I had weird things happening. Screen blacks out for 2-4 seconds, then comes back on while gaming, screen does a small explosive sound ( hard to describe ) and an artifact like thingy flashes horizontally across the screen for a second, I get black square artifacts ( 1440P screen so very small ) and so on. This only happens in one game, Elite Dangerous Horizons. While in Windows the screen went nuts two times and everything got mixed up, and while playing Heroes of The Storm the textures flickers constantly ( not all, just some ).

All in all, I got all these small nuisances that occurs relative frequently but random. I suspected that it was the card that was faulty, but thing is I ran 3D mark and Furmark for like 40-60 min and nothing shows up, works good, no errors or display artifacts.

The vendor has offered to take the card in for testing, they told me they will run the card for hours in Furmark etc for a full 24 HRS. And since these errors I wrote about above are non consistent what worries me is that if they do not find any faults I will recieve the card back after it being stressed really hard, i.e in worse shape than I left it in.

What should I do? Could it be the display? It is a Acer XG270HU 1440P 144 Hz Freesync monitor, the GPU is not overclocked and the PSU is a Corsair RM1000i ( quality stuff ), motherboard is MSI GODLIKE X99.

Halp! : ) Pls.

Sounds like my defective fury x sorry to say. It was confirmed the card was the problem and I had the black squares and issues with 144hz 1440 panel. Also something to consider before the GPU is the cable. A 2meter or shorter(which is very short) DP 1.2a VESA certified cable is what AMD recommends for that reso and refresh rate. The panels all seem to come with substandard cabling so you can try the Accel brand which I am using at the moment or perhaps a 2m Belkin(more reliable company) or shorter cable first before RMAing the GPU. I ruled out cabling as the Belkin and Accel both work on my new GPU but did not solve the issues on the old one so in my case the GPU was defective but def rule out cabling first for a panel like that.

DO you think Linus's ghetto cooling solution would work for a r9 nano?

I have a reason, im jw if thatd work for the r9 nano.

If the block is big enough for core and the hbm, kind of, as you still need to take care of the vrm. I think that mounting method was originated somewhere here on ocn.
