[Official] AMD R9 Radeon FURY / NANO / X / Pro DUO FIJI Owners Club - Page 874

Air cooled Fury Tri-X literally luv'd the cooler, even with fan profile I thought very quiet. TBH at times was checking if the fans were running when card under load.

AIO Fury X only gripe in my view was installation, found maneuvering 2 elements for installation bit tricky. This is probably a combo of me/my case, so others may not think the same. Depending among revs of fan each sample I've had seems differing on perceptive noise, but not an issue as usually the fan never runs at those speeds, these were checks I did with manually setting fan speed at x RPM.

Out of all 7 Fiji cards, all ref AMD PCB, had no issues with coil whine. Never heard them through headphones, which taking into context what I do on PC is not a big proportion of the time. Even without headphones pretty much all of them it has been diffcult to hear coil whine when room has some low ambient noise. Yes at times hear whine when room totally silent, but no way IMO excessive or irritating noise.

I don't have a hearing issue IMO and would think I'm an OCD PC owner biggrin.gif.

All in all well pleased with "out of box" experience of Fiji vs 4 differing Hawaii cards with aftermarket coolers I owned at one point.

The temps on VRM are impressive IMO when comparing to the Hawaii cards as well. What the Fury/X coolers maintained as GPU temp with slight fan profile mod in ROM is phenomenal comparing to Hawaii with AIB HSF.

When i said i replaced the cooler with an EKWB block because of noise i did not mean the Fury X was loud. I could hear it. biggrin.gif
I got a very powerful watercooling setup. My PC is so silent, that you connot hear if it is running or not unless you go very close to it.
Compared to that the fan of the fury X is "loud". It reached 65 degrees because i have no need for very much airflow in my tower. I do have airflow for the components but it is not enough to transport the heat of a fury X under load out of the case quickly. Since the radiator could not be mounted outside since you cannot unplug the hoses it basically baked itself inside. tongue.gif

I am fully aware that the Fury X in it'S stock setup is a silent card compared to the competition. Mine does not have any coil whine either.
It's a great product really.

The Polaris 10 leaked 3dmark result in interesting...

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11263084

3DMark 11 Performance Graphics Score = 67DF:C7 = 18060

3DMark 11 Performance Graphics Score = R9 Nano stock = 17763

3DMark 11 Performance Graphics Score = R9 Nano with +50% = 18614

A card worth $200 dollars reaching Nano performance already, welp. But I wonder if it holds its grounds at 4k.

If the 200ish dollar gpu performs around a nano i sure hope they support up to 4 way CF also. I am curious to see these in action for sure.

Seems like its marketing. I see some reviews used a pro2duo but thTs not very accurate against fury x. I try to remain open minded but Nvidia really seems underhanded this launch. I still dont understand why so many review sites dont have a fury x or even 2 for reviews. There is no shortage of 980tis or 1070/1080s for reviews. Heh. I like how a fury or nano is used for fiji on many sites and to hell with a furyx.

Expect a 1080Ti whenever AMD makes a move that puts the pressure on Nvidia(from a marketing and media standpoint as that tends to matter more than reality). I would guess that or some form of new Titan will be the Big Pascal with HBM2. I plan on sitting on the fury X or if I rebuild without a loop perhaps one of the new Polaris cards as a placeholder until both camps have a HBM2 Flagship GPU out to decide. I am very biased toward AMD after all my experience...as long as the card stays cooled properly they last just as long as Nvidia and frankly they age better.

The 1080 just like 980 is for fanbois who literally will just "upgrage" as soon as Nvidia releases a better card just months later....which they will...

OR

idiots who fall victim to marketing

OR

someone who really needs a new top end GPU right now and prefers Nvidia (only person in my mind with a brain in this group of variables)

If you want the best card today, 1080 is the way to go. It's simple as that. You don't have to prefer any brand (I don't). Unless you have to choose because of G-Sync or Freesync.

But somehow I'm interested in the RX 480. Nano is really good (mine operates at Fury X niveau as mentioned earlier), but I guess I don't need that high performance.

Any european in here interested in a watercooled Nano?

That's so vague. You could have easily said the same things about the 780\980\Titans as well. They were the best cards at the time with no competition and we see how well that has worked out once the "Ti" & next gen Titan dropped as well as AMD GPUs. So that's only going to cost you $649 & $549 to $1000 for the "best GPUs at that time". Simple as that right? Pay a nice sum of money and swallow the performance gap 6 to 7 months later and some sooner than that. Don't worry Nvidia will have more performance coming soon for anywhere from $649.99-$1049.99 or more for the top of the line graphics.

I'm all for getting the best card, but the prices are simply getting ridiculous and it looks like it's not going to stop. Nvidia is just going to cash in and cover their architecture flaws with minor to no complaints. So far there is "some" backlash from Nvidia customers, but they are still purchasing the GPUs so that completely erases any criticism they have.

At some point brands do matter to a certain extent. When I see company using their money to influence the results, that's simply cringe worthy. You know readers are going to take those reviews and run with them. This is one of the reasons I normally run my own benchmarks and take some reviews with a grain of salt. At this point the Nvidia marketing, long money flow & the sponsors aren't trying to hide it. It's completely blatant right now.

I used Nvidia GPUs for 5 years until my Fury X, but I'm called a fanboy rolleyes.gif . All of those years with Nvidia GPU I saw that AMD wasn't getting a fair shake even though their GPUs were very competitive and even better than Nvidia GPUs in some reviews. Nvidia has the biggest brand though. and they have the largest group of "keyboard soldiers" ready to call you names on every website.

Being unbiased is great, but being foolish and falling for a paper launch, while paying a premium price [$699+whatever demand price pops up] for a REFERENCE card that is low in quantity is "the" definition of a fanboy or someone who loves their company brand. Forget that "best card today" crap. Some of these people can't wait and pre-ordered without thinking twice. I'm looking at AMD and their Nano paper launch as well, but this time AMD [RX 480] was careful with their words, Nvidia wasn't.

Sorry for the long post.
