I play at 1440p.
Currently "most" demanding ones I play are
- Overwatch
- Witcher 3
- Rise of the Tomb Raider

Just reposting my Q before it gets buried quite urgent to know if its the old "coil whine" batch or its just a retailer trying to get rid of overflowing stock

Is there anything wrong with the ASUS Radeon R9 Fury X ?
its priced at $569cad versus the other brands which are $849cad, Limited offer on Newegg till Wednesday.

Yeah they very picky about links in the profile as well here. You can google my username and add Fury X to the end and I'm sure you'll see it. I don't have Overwatch yet. The Fury X prices are getting lower since AMD is releasing their new GPUs and Nvidia Pascal is releasing. I'm actually using the ASUS Radeon R9 Fury X and I have 0 issues with it. It comes with a 1 year free GameCaster license which is cool if you like streaming or recording your games. The GPU temps will spoil you and you'll probably never go back to air blowers any time soon biggrin.gif. My GPU temps are always in the low 40s. In my benchmarks I record the CPU and GPU temps as well. The GPU temps are always low even on very warm days.

It's german, but a benchmark ain't hard to read ^^. You can choose the games on the top and the resolutions on the upper left side (it says "Benchmarks (1 von 3)")

They do bench a lot and compare against overclocked cards as well (you can find that one under "Spezialbenchmarks")

Ugh.....PCGH. Their results are usually worse than mine results and they are running newer tech than me. Plus I perform all of my benchmarks at stock clocks. Based on what I've seen from them compared to several other sites I wouldn't recommend that site for a fair Fury X comparison.

Oh geez, all the temps are low 40s, wow I knew WC a GPU gave great temps, I'm at 77-82c on load in any game that pushes 100% usage. Seeing 40s is just shocking.
Great site, already ordered the Fury X, should arrive sometime Tues. - Wed.
Now I just need to figure out how to get DVI-D DL to my QNIX monitor from the HDMI/DP ports of the Fury X...

Thank you very much.
This is exactly what I wanted to hear, was pacing about wondering if this is just pricing to compete with upcoming price drops when 480 launches, or is there something wrong with the ASUS, well, hopefully nothing, because the special discount is from "TECHOOL" via Newegg, so was thinking maybe they found a bunch of the old batch (coil whining issue) and are selling it at $210 less than all other "new batch" Fury Xs.
Just found it bit fishy, but I really hope its just a special discount, for discount sakes.

Still thank for that info, just narrows down what to worry about. haha

Posting benchmarks for the Radeon Pro Duo in Firestrike and Valley Extreme HD, both are the free versions of the software.

Just had that weird thing happen again where I get a black screen, audio stops, USB stops responding and both Furys go to 100% fan speed. Stays that way until I force kill my PC. I swear, if one of these cards is going bad again.... mad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

Yes, it's a year old, but that really doesn't mean much - it takes years to design modern tech. We are just now hearing about fourth gen GCN and not a single product has been released using it, but fifth gen GCN (or GCN's replacement) is already likely years into its development cycle.

HBM took, IIRC, about six years from its initial design phase until a product came to market.

I had a faulty power supply cause that for me. I replaced pretty much everything before I figured it out. Not sure what exactly was going on - if it was a spike, or one of the power rails went offline, but a new PSU and the problem never returned. It would happen at the weirdest of times, too, but only every few days, sometimes less, sometimes more often.

Before jumping on a new PSU, grab a PSU tester from newegg or something, dirt cheap, cheaper than a new PSU. test the rails, ez-pz. IF it is the PSU, get a new one. IF it isnt. then you can save the hassle of having to unplug/plug the PSU to all the connections, imo I find this a pain in the ass, just to test if "maybe its a faulty/dying PSU"--assumption.

also try reinstalling drivers?
use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), remove drivers, re install from AMD.

sounds similar to what happened during my first escapades into 390 CF. already taxing a Corsair AX850, when the recommended is 1050w. was really grasping at solutions when this happened, really was hoping it wasnt the PSU, Driver reinstall fixed everything.
