[Official] AMD R9 Radeon FURY / NANO / X / Pro DUO FIJI Owners Club - Page 888

Every time you remove or replace a thermal solution (water/air) from a modern GPU, you are taking a chance. Unlike tower PC CPU's; there is no heat spreader to protect the delicate silicon that the processor is based on. If you want to sweat bullets. try de-lidding a 3000 series and up Intel proc. to replace the TIM.
Some times you break an egg. It can be very upsetting when it happens. You can know the risks and accept them. But you don't have to be happy if it happens.
With the Fiji series of GPU's this is exacerbated. Owing to it being a delicate composite of silicon layers. The interposer is a sandwich of 3 or more thin layers of silicon. Held together by a adhesive and aligning BGA between the layers. The GPU is affixed by adhesive on top this aligning another BGA. HBM RAM modules (also BGA) are layered silicon; which can be so thin it is as flexible as paper. So it's kind of a house of cards to play with.

As for anyone with the knowledge and the willingness to experiment to help other owners. I applaud them and feel for them when they experience setbacks like this.

From what I'm understanding he thinks from irregular pressure application whilst installing the pressure bracket he may have caused damage to interposer or HBM.

Most likely. It is very easy to damage the Fury X, plenty of vets already have. I don't trust myself enough so I had someone with powerful sorcery do mine.

So a little update. It seems like my fps has in suffered thus far with trying to overclock. Turns out that any settings I was using in amd were being over ridden by the cam software. I wish I didn't have to use it at all but the have the best lighting system at the time. Actually what I wish was there was a software that would control all devices from all companies. A software to control my corsair aio, my corsair mouse, also working with my dominator platinums as far as temps, control my lighting, control fans, had a decent gpu over clocked in it, some good monitoring and stress testing/benchmarks. I'd be a happy man.

Just got done running fire strike ultra at 20% power increase only now that I have fixed the cam gpu tuning software and I went from a score of 3427 to 3615!! Wow now here's hoping my fps go up in real gaming.

Digging further into results seems like my cpu was off in the lower scored run

What would cause this difference?

That was one of the conflicts I was worried about. Is there any way of uninstalling part of the cam software? With Asus AI suite you can install or uninstall parts you do not want.

There is a hotfix and a way to change setting my changing files which I have done. I'm now trying using just the Radeon software for awhile to see if it's better. I also noticed I have gpu tweak 2 available, it came with my gpu. I'll probably try afterburner if I don't get much results from the Radeon
