So I see no reason why a Tri-X BIOS would lock out CU's on a Fury X.
Fury X ROM does not have the table which locks/configures SP, I posted about it in Fiji bios mod thread when Alastair brought discussion to that thread. Due to this table not being in Fury X Atomtool can not be run on it to set SP, I modded AMD updated Fury X ROM to have the table plus changed PowerPlay to have correct CAC records so under EVV you'd have correct VID per DPM.
This same method of ROM locking was used on Hawaii and later H/W lock.
If I run the CUinfo tool on genuine Fury X it would let me know if it is still in writable state for SP, if so a Fury ROM or Fury X ROM with table which configure SP could be used to set 3584 3776 & 3840 SP IMO.

Only if the GPU has writable state.
