[Official] AMD R9 Radeon FURY / NANO / X / Pro DUO FIJI Owners Club - Page 900

Just tested again, +48mV and I get artifacting and eventually a driver crash in Firestrike. At +96mV, I get a pass without a hitch.
Yes but what I am saying is are you sure you aren't getting negative scaling at that voltage, what I mean by that is, FPS and scores tend to start DROPPING at voltages above the +50mv range.

Sad to say guys but I am going to ditch Kung Fury X and go with an X99 platform with a CLC for the CPU and an air cooled 1080 EVGA ACX(most likely). I abhor Nvidia but as my rig was shop built it is either a Fury X(non water cooled), a Fury or a 1080 to stay inside the budget for a rebuild. I don't want to take a risk with issues of sound from the Fury X and I never planned on a Fury. I was also told I could wait for the Titan P and get that and drop my 1.2 TB Intel NVME drive down to the 400GB model to make the cost fit. I am obviously probably going to lose my white theme and have to find a new G Sync panel and sell this great BenQ but I don't have the skillset to pull things out of this custom loop so this way if something craps out I can just replace it myself and save the headache.

I wish I could stay with the red team but I don't see a single air cooled flagship on the horizon anywhere to push 4K(if I am going to use a 1080 why not...?) and again I am at the mercy of what my builder can get before Deus Ex comes out in AUGust wink.gif as that is the one game I refuse to play on my Xbone while this water cooled paperweight just sits here.

Rebuild will be everything including chassis less peripherals.

P.S. I would love to drop the full specs here when they are finalized to get some feedback because if I can stick with AMD and not lose out in my specific scenario I would love to but I am under time constraints...been out a main system for too long. I also do not use multi GPU configs so anything with Xfire would take a lot of convincing.

Newegg has the XFX Fury X for $400 now. I ordered mine last month with the $20 rebate but they gave me $60 Newegg credit after chatting with them. Might be worth a shot if you purchased recently. thumb.gif

^ Well I suppose that you are looking for 60fps @ 4K right? The Fury X is water cooled, but I'm sure you mean custom loop and closed loop. I'm guessing that you probably won't hear much news about AMD next flagship until later this year [Q4?]. They are on the affordable mainstream path to regain some market share and so far it has been working.

I'm still enjoying 4K for the games I play, but I understand some people "require" 60fps. I don't require 60fps, but I do require a smooth experience with little to no screen tearing and no micro-stutter. I'm fine with 35+. The GTX 1080 is the latest and greatest from Nvidia, but so far it's coming with the price of a arm and a leg. The price gouging and rare availability is real.

In the meantime I'm waiting on Vega and I might pick up a non reference RX 480 OC for benchmarking purposes. I might also pick up the GTX 1060 if it isn't too expensive for benchmarking purposes as well, but I did hear that it's going to have a Founders Edition as well so who knows.

At the moment I'm running 4K benchmarks on several games and hopefully I can get those results updated soon. Some of the games are re-test with new drivers and game patches. Some are new games I've never tested.

These are all of the games I've testing with 100% MAX SETTINGS @ 4K. Some games will be tested with Max Settings with AA disabled since I really don't need to use AA at 4K from my experience with the image quality. I might also run some benchmarks with the Tessellation set to X8 and lower and completely disabled to see if it makes a difference at 4K. At the moment I'm running all settings maxed.

Fury X Stock @ 4K one year later [games I'm testing]:

-Doom 2016
-MGSV: The Phantom Pain
-Ryse: Son of Rome
-The Evil Within
-Hitman DX12
-Rise of the Tomb Raider
-Shadows of Mordor + 6GB HD Texture Pack
-Crysis 3
-Metro: 2033 Redux
-Metro: Last Light Redux
-Rainbow Six Siege
-Batman: Arkham Knight
-The Witcher 3

I've already went through the data and got some results for the games above. Here's a little data for you guys to read before the article is posted.
My FPS Min Caliber™........ long story short is basically 97th Percentile by the way

[There's a new patch for Doom 2016, but I haven't benchmarked the game using the latest Patch yet]
Doom 2016 @ 4K - Max Graphical Settings + AA [TSAAA (8TX)] Enabled:
Level: Know Your Enemy
-FPS Avg: 45.22
-FPS Max: 68
-FPS Min Caliber™: 34.5

Doom 2016 @ 4K - Max Graphical Settings + AA Disabled:
Level: Know Your Enemy
-FPS Avg: 48
-FPS Max: 79.4
-FPS Min Caliber™: 36.1

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain @ 4K - Max Graphical Settings:
Level: Mission 30: Sahelanthropus Intro Cinematic
-FPS Avg: 36.13
-FPS Max: 55.1
-FPS Min Caliber™: 25.6

Ryse: Son of Rome @ 4K - Max Graphical Settings:
Level: Chapter 4
-FPS Avg: 40fps
-FPS Max: 56.4
-FPS Min Caliber™: 33

The Evil Within @ 4K - Max Graphical Settings:
Level: Chapter 2
-FPS Avg: 39fps
-FPS Max: 49
-FPS Min Caliber™: 31.9

Hitman 2016 @ 4K - Max Graphical Settings [DX12 + Patch 1.1.2]:
Level: Episode 2: Sapienza
-FPS Avg: 44fps
-FPS Max: 68.1
-FPS Min Caliber™: 36.5

Remember than all of these games are 100% maxed out so that includes AA max unless otherwise stated. I can easily drop some necessary graphical settings and gain more fps and lower frametimes. I spent a decent amount on my Fury X [$649+] and I always want to know my true performance with all settings maxed. So far no complaints from me at 4K resolution gaming. The 4GBs HBM is holding up much better than I thought. It's only going to get better from here since we are waiting on another flagship.

I still have a lot of games to benchmark. 1440p is great, but I am enjoying 4K gaming believe it or not. I'm going to perform some off-screen recordings that shows my FPS on-screen. The performance hit is just to much when trying to record 1440 and 4K. I'm thinking about picking up another Fury X as well since they are getting cheaper. Then again I think a single Fury X could hold me over until next summer.

It isnt about 4K it is about the shops returns on custom water loop parts. I would take a 1080 over a Fury X being it wontmake a difference in price. I am just going 4K because well almost everything I plan on playing is single player eye candy anyway so I figure why not since I have someone interested in my BenQ and since it is cherry they are offering what I paid for it which was 600 US.

You were right, I benched GTA V 3 times and the results were quite sobering: There was virtually no difference between running 1150/550/+96mV and running 1075/500/+-0mV. Talking one, maybe two FPS difference between 3 runs each. Might as well start undervolting to lower temps and power draw biggrin.gif

Yeah this aspect sucks on Fiji sadsmiley.gif .

I have tried a few different methods of applying voltage with combination of PowerPlay VID and VRM controller offset and does not help sadsmiley.gif .

It does not matter what PL or driver options we set, at x voltage increase a card will scale negatively on performance, regardless if at stock clocks or OC clocks sadsmiley.gif .

At what voltage a card starts negatively scaling on performance with voltage increase depends on each card from 7 I tested sadsmiley.gif .

Dang, I just bought my Fury X on the 3rd, but I went to my local Fry's and had them price match Newegg to $459.99. At least I get a $30 rebate out of Fry's, not to mention I don't really order from Newegg anymore. But $399.99 is an outstanding deal, they must be trying to empty out their stock. I assume AMD isn't going to build anymore Fury cards until Vega.
