This is probably something of a petty question, but would the Radeon R9 Fury X, during it's time of release be considered the flagship product of it's generation?

I'm thinking I might keep it since it was "my first flagship GPU" but i was thinking that might be the Radeon Pro Duo?
In any case I'll probably keep it long after I've upgraded just because I like it so much.

My Fury X is 64.4% and is 1.212V for DPM 7 (ie highest state), your card with 64.8% I would assume to be lower, but due to the OC in your DPM 7 from factory I reckon the 1.237V is not true representation of your stock VID. Without going into too much detail why I think this, if we flash your stock ROM with DPM 7 set as 1000MHz we will see lower VID for DPM 7 IMO. Which would correlate with how your card is scaling well with higher voltage increase. You see I've had other Fiji cards, one such Fury X DPM 7 was 1.187V and allowed more voltage increase prior to negative performance scaling.

The info we see in GPU-Z for ASIC quality is explained/it's relevance in Hawaii bios mod OP heading What is "ASIC Quality"? (gotta do a similar section in Fiji bios mod redface.gif ).

I re-ran Time spy with lower voltage and lower clock, got a lower score.

http://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/49330/spy/22308

The other guy's score at 1150 may be higher because of the driver difference, I can't tell which driver he is using though.

Edit: got the same driver as the top score, ran it a few more times at 1200/560 +150mv and +100mv, 1150/560 +36mv I see minimal difference at 1200 +100mv/150mv and a loss at 1150 +35mv. Even at 1200 though I still lose to him in gpu score by 6%.

Time spy hates me, i yanked out my 5960x and put in a xeon with different ddr4 modules that doesn't overclock because they are locked. Behold! i still get time measurement errors... lol (everything is at stock)

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13289109?

So yeah i did manage to get one validation and it was totally screwed up. Crossfire was broken after a bios update and it was stutter heaven. However guess what.... it was low enough score it validated it.. lol.

broken crossfire result:
http://www.3dmark.com/spy/52719

So what Timespy is saying is 4 FuryX are slower than 2 1080gtx...

The invalid runs are too high of a score... http://www.3dmark.com/spy/52611

I suspect if it's hardware then i cannot explain why Firestrike validates just fine...

I have beat my head against the wall on this so i am burnt out now. Ah well... I do wonder if anyone running FuryX CF is able to get valid scores though.... i dont have a second x99 mobo to try

this appears to be an RX 480 launch driver, but is WHQL? I downloaded it but not sure if it will work with FuryX? I just want to post valid scores on timespy... I don't know why AMD makes this so hard with all these betas and seems like the HQL driver is hidden

Yep, 16.6.2 was RX 480 launch driver, the one floating around the web at the time lacked other card support in inf but this does have other cards, you well see "AMD Radeon™ R9 Fury Series Graphics" stated in "Radeon Desktop Product Family Compatibility" table smile.gif .

I've found drivers that usually have "Hotfix" in title are not WHQL thinking.gif . I'm not on Win 10, but on Win 7, if installing non WHQL driver it will state something like "this driver is not signed, do you trust it" and you have option to install or not. IIRC you can see in device manager > properties of device > driver if it is signed. I will try this driver smile.gif .

Why it's "hidden" / previous drivers section is 16.7.2 is the newest "Hotfix" as it has the RX 480 PCI-E slot power usage improvement.

When you read the first section of page it comes across they are WHQL, "Guidelines" heading has "The driver must be WHQL certified for all supported graphics chipsets.", but further on we see:-
Quote:
Special cases

In special cases, such as a major product launch, we will consider approving a new driver with the following exceptions to our standard policy:

The driver may be pre-release and is not required to be WHQL certified.

So headscratch.gif but will try and report back smile.gif .

Yeah your driver differs to AndreDVJ, in "Graphics card" section it will state driver version, but matching this to an AMD package I have found no quick method redface.gif .

Anyhow:-

a) I've no idea how much run to run variance there is on this bench as I don't have Win 10.
b) seems ozyo scaled well with 1200MHz, 3 way result compare. I would think the GS score are not effected by CPU as all have CPU which would not be bottlenecking card.
c) even though HBM clock for tests in compares differ you're all at 545MHz, see this post (I was a skeptic about the clock steps but no longer).
d) I've noted from say comparing 4 differing Hawaii cards I've owned, even when all clocked the same, some may bench slightly better than another. It could well be regarded as run to run variance, but I have noted others think this who have had more than 1 card to compare with. Even though had 7 Fiji cards I've been too preoccupied with other things to correlate data to see same occurrence, but would not be surprised if same occurs.
e) perhaps negative scaling "thing"? when viewing your result vs ozyo?

For example take this result compare, your 4.8% GPU increase over mine results in 0.1-1.5% gain in GT1/GT2/Combined FPS. The -30mV does not mean I was reducing it from stock VID but from an increased VID over stock in ROM (see below).

For example 1145 is on the cusp of negative scaling for my current card, so ROM has DPM 7 1145@1.268V, then I reduce to ~1.238V, 3 loop compare, best of each compared, worst out of each compared.

So IMO negative performance scaling with voltage increase is 0.5% to 1.0% in this OC profile compare, this effect increases if your OC is higher/where a member is experiencing this "phenomenon".
