To each their own. I've been more focused on reducing temps as much as possible while keeping framerates high and noise low. I prefer to keep my GPU around the temps of my CPU. Plus keeps the temp of my SSD in the m.2 slot cooler.

Mine's running right now at 99% at 50C in game at 1440p, overclocked 1100mhz, 510memory.

If you cannot overclock or overclocking is poor and for example requires big overvoltage for small performance increase and is just not worth it for the temp/noise/power draw increasement then it is nice to check if the GPU at least can take some undervolting. You can significantly decrease temperatures and power draw this way, and therefore noise levels, especially on air.

I know that there are paranoiac people around that will say they don't like things running "as hot as 70C" and that components "cannot keep up" at this temp, while in fact they were designed to run at higher temps, but if you can reduce noise levels and power consumption without any performance cost then why not, its free improvement.

Yes it is. The card is silent since the fans run at low RPMs during benchmarking and gaming sessions.

Those temps are awesome, makes me wish id spent the extra 50 on the Fury X but I didnt think my PSU could handle it, its only a 550watt.

Thanks. I had the power limit and the core voltage lower, but then I noticed my core clock would fall. Remember these are the warmest months of the year, I can only imagine how cool the Fury X runs during the Fall and Winter months. The temps were already good, but undervolting makes it even better.

I'm not "so focused" on undervolting. I had the GPU for a year and just decided to undervolt for the heck of it. The results were nice. I run my Fury X at stock settings and I rarely overclock it since my performance is normally great at stock. The highest I've pushed it was 1175Mhz on the Core. I was hitting 1125Mhz-1150Mhz with only core clock changes. All of my benchmarks are using stock settings anyways except some synthetic benchmarks from time to time.

Undervolting does has it's purposes. Less voltage being used, less wattage and less heat output, fans running at lower RPMs while maintaining the same core clock. I guess a better question would be "why not" undervolt it if you can achieve the same performance with no fps loss.

I have a SSD using the m.2 slot and those can get pretty warm. My GPU is normally on par with my CPU and now my GPU actually runs cooler than the GPU depending on the game and API being used.

I'm considering picking up another Fury X for CFX since the prices have dropped down to around $400.00. The scaling looks nice, but who knows what might be released later this year or early next year. Plus the single Fury X is giving me more than I need and aging fairly well 1 year later.

Totally biggrin.gif , I have slight cooling profile mod via ROM and 50°C GPU temp is maintained when gaming/folding, etc.

Some nice fixes in there. I may for the first time consider multi GPU. I will however wait for HBM2 AMD Flaghships as my loop is already done. AMD is doing it big with each driver release!
