I got a bit of a problem with my laptop.. So i tried to turn on my laptop today and all the lights on the laptop light up, but the screen does not turn on.. I tried to disassemble the laptop to see if i could figure out what the problem was.. the cooling fan does not turn on and the HDD seems not to be running, but the CPU and GPU are getting hot after a few minutes.
So i was wondering if someone could help me figure dead if the motherboard is dead or maybe it's something else like CPU??
Souns like the CPU and GPU are powering on. The fan not turning could be a fan failure. I had a system that did something like this a good while ago. It turned out to be the mobo. Considering that you dont get a POST or any sort of display, it could be the GPU that went bad, the screen itself, or it could be the board. Can you connect it to an external monitor just to rule out a screen issue?
Most of the time when this happens, it's the cheapo mobo the manufacturer installed just for it to have one. If you're good at soldering, you can order a replacement and continue on. Otherwise, I hope you are still in the time frame for the very short warranty.

Yeah i was thinking about doing that, but I have been looking at the motherboard so see if i could find any damaged component, but I can't see anything wrong with the motherboard. and it's pretty hard to fix a motherboard when i don't even know where/what is wrong with the motherboard.. and no it's out of warranty :/

Yeah have tried to remove the ram and check with one ram at the time, but still nothing. I just think the motherboard is dead.. the only ting that happens is that all the lights turn on and the cpu/gpu are getting hot.. nothing shows up on the screen. the HDD is not spinning, CPU/GPU cooling fan not running, no sound at all (beep error sound) I'm out of ideas
Take out the hard drive and see if the behavior is any different than what you have observed already.
When I had a laptop HDD die, the laptop refused to turn on and I jumped to the conclusion that it would need a motherboard replacement. Only after the hard drive was removed could I see that the laptop was fine and justify replacing the dead drive.
Replacing components like motherboard, CPU, and GPU in laptops is relatively difficult and expensive in my experience. If it came down to it, I would rather put the money towards a brand new machine.

I have tried with a another HDD that I know is working. and still the same story. I have found another motherboard for my laptop for 90 USD so that pretty cheap on my opinion and it's a little better motherboard than my current one (from AMD CPU to Intel i3) So I think I'm just going to buy a new motherboard, because laptops are really expensive here where I live :/
