Also a big claim that most monitors will come with A-Sync since as a far as i know, its still optional.
Have you seen the prices of the available Freesync monitors??

So what is DP1.2a support is optional? That doesn't dismiss what I say.

I have a feeling most these Free Sync panels where never designed for VRR.

Honestly, I'm just glad I can finally grab a 144Hz 1440p panel without forking over $700 for it. Regardless of how well Freesync works, $500 for a guaranteed 144Hz stable 1440p panel is pretty awesome by itself, especially when you consider what the alternative is -- "overclockable" 1440p IPS panels.

Interesting.

TL;DR:

G-sync: Refresh rate doubles/triples at lower framerates to avoid flickering.
freesync: Refresh doesn't go below 40 Hz, stops syncing below 40, so with framerates below 40 you get tearing and stuttering.

So atm G-sync seems the superior technology.

Sorry, but FreeSync monitors ain't cheap ... and they aren't $500 either.

FreeSync - BenQ XL2730Z - 2560x1440 resolution - TN panel - 40-144Hz VR range ..... $740.96

G-Sync - Asus ROG Swift - 2560x1440 resolution - TN panel - 30-144Hz VRR range .... $762.99

So basically FreeSync saves you $22. WOW. Massive savings there. rolleyes.gif

And what do you get for that $22 "OMG, nVidia is so damn expensive" price?

Working drivers NOW. Multiple video card support NOW. And best of all, 10Hz VRR on the low end.

Sorry, but the whole "FreeSync will be $200 more expensive" BS has finally been debunked.

Ships from and sold by Corner Discount (We don't ship to PO Box).

Nice retailer you have there.

Meanwhile at NCIXus and Newegg, the XL2730Z is US$630.

Prices will stabilise lower, I wouldn't declare anything debunked just yet.

These Monitor manufactures are just capitalizing on new tech. Basically they are not passing the Free Sync savings to the user. They know people will not get Free Sync over G-Sync for money so they can price it the same.
