i mean before phenoms. maybe during dual core era they were still good but that was the last time you could say they really competed with intel

I mean at the time amd had damn near the same pricing for enthusiast hardware

I used to be a diehard amd fanboy when I couldn't afford intel and amd could actually compete, but its been years since they have given intel a run for their money.

If intel worked on a non iGPU series of processors for entry level amd would be gone.
as it is 350 is too steep for most consumers

Athalon 64s were where it was at! Those things could OC like champions. I miss old school AMD.
Now their CPUs even at 5GHZ limit Multi-GPU setups.Great-ish for runnings servers though!

Yeah I hear AMD is sort of relevent outside multi gpu overkill, but I have yet to waste money on AMD just to find out. I mean I don't do large amounts of data processing, I bench. I especially enjoy messing with ram, which AMD last I checked is just terrible at. 4790K pretty much dominates all when it comes to DDR3. And now I have DDR4, so theres now AMD option for me.

And if I am not benching I am doing CAD or gaming and theres no way I'd CAD on a AMD when I have a 5960X

phenom x4 were so bad... just so bad.. my last AMD chip was a phenom black 9850
luckily back then all i did was casual gaming or I'd have been pissed.

I won't lie the phenom II 965BE was a good preforming champ for when I was poor-ish, however now I have a 4770k pumping 4.5ghz I can never, ever look back.

I have my FX8320 at 4.7GHZ in my FTP server, my 965BE in my HTPC. That's all they used for now.

The glory days were late 90s, early 00s, mid 00s and nothing much else worth mentioning since the launch of the c2d.

:)I hope samsung buys amd out and uses their vast resources as what? #1 electronics company in the world? to bring amd's cpus back

I mean samsung would even be better equipped to crush apple.

after actually reading the article. I think it would probably the best thing that could happen for AMD, I mean if they became a wing of samsung, they would also have some really interesting routes to R&D with their GPU division too. I mean that new g-sync rival they made.
might even be able to drive down monitor price a little if they make samsung monitors with the hardware already incorperated to the PCB so no excess socket nonsense

It's samsung, they make anything. possibilities are endless.

It'd be cool if they played with their ddr4 ICs and some AMD stuff though.

Well Bulldozer happened and we know what it did to them. Blame Intel and poor management for the fact that Bulldozer happened to be this bad in the first place.
jeez anyone else remember the bulldozer hype? when we all thought it was going to be 8cores of pure sex.... and then ~fart noises~

or the 900$ 5ghz revamp. I looked it up on newegg just to read the butthurt reviews xD

I mean 900$ what the hell were they thiking. the price plummeted less than a month after it's release xD

The second source in the OP points to the same hankooki article as its original source.

The third source is a bad copy/paste of the wccf article.
