[TPU]EVGA Announces the GeForce GTX 980 HYBRID - Page 6

Just watched the video. This looks very interesting and would appeal to folks like myself who don't want to deal with all the water setup. If they built a 980TI like this, I'd be on board. Late or not, it wouldn't matter to me because I don't jump ship on each new gpu iteration.

They should have cooled the vrm and memory as well, even if push/pull was needed or even a 240 radiator, it would make a shorter card and a true alternative to normal modded version.

edit: plus it would allow you to stack them with no gaps needed for sli.

pretty obvious this is purely for the e-peen factor

E-peen would be full water.

I was about to buy 4 of these EVGA 980 AIO's but they took too long then the Titan X came out of nowhere which I bought instead. I would gladly buy 3-4 Titan X versions of these though without any hesitation.

It would be almost impossible to do quad-SLI with any CLCs unless they had really long tubing. If you're going quad-SLI you really should go full water.

Jayz overclocked his Hybrid 980 to 1600+ mhz biggrin.gif (see the video in this thread) But imo he has a Golden chips , I dont think most 980 could do 1600+ mhz even with proper watercooling. Like he said in his video, his 3 watercooled 980 in his main rig cant go past 1550ish mhz.

this still has the heat sink/spreader, it's just missing the main heatsink that was contacting the die....i think.

Yeah I think you're right. I expected more form EVGA, a single vga version of the Gigabyte waterforce without it's nonsense radiator case would sell really well.

I think this product is on the wrong Maxwell card.

It's an experiment (as far as EVGA+AIO is concerned, I think?), both sales wise and product wise. I can see why they wouldn't start with putting it on a titan, they wouldn't want to risk having a sub-par cooling solution for that, if this is somehow turned out not as great of a cooling performance as they hoped in some areas, and putting it on a 970 is just silly, as 970 is not 'premium' price segment.

And being on a 980, they probably have more room to go down with price, if their sales expectations are not met, as the GPU landscape changes.
Seems like a safe bet to me.
