windows 8 had issues also especially that metro crap they pulled 8.1 was much better but still lacked a proper start menu some things just didn't work properly and windows 10 is a improvement over 8.1 drastically that is my 2 cents I just upgraded to win 10 tech preview build 10041 today on my sig rig so far so good.

I did the new tech preview win 10 10041 to play with the DX12 and such in 3dmark you know the urge to check it out got me hardcore enough to put my sig rig on it.

Vista was not a resource hog. OEM's should never have shipped it with PC's with only 1GB of RAM and Vista's RAM use is really good, it will load a lot in RAM for later use. Then we had 30% of Vista crashes being caused by AMD and nVidia drivers and Creative simply refusing to release drivers, saying people should buy new hardware. Haven't bought or even recommended Creative products since my Live 24 bit was left without drivers.

Because of these things people thought Vista was a terrible OS.

Considering AMD's 83xx were never meant to compete with the 4770K but the lower tiered 4670K the performance is damned good.

Draw calls do not represent performance but how much they differ in DX12 is yet to be seen as DX12 hasn't been released yet and will only be part of Win 10. By the time Win 10 and DX12 are out we'll have AMD's next generation as well.

the question is how long it'll take Intel to come up with a 8 core/16 thread i7 to blow AMD to pieces again. A weak core is still a weak core, what are they gonna do ? Put 32 cores into 1 chip to compete with Haswell ?
BTW I'd really like to see first real game benchmarks and how 3930k stands against 4790k, it's even cheaper than 4790k now, granted they're 2nd hand.

In comparison to AMD's current 4 module processors, what Intel's true 8 core processors will likely perform in Mantle & Directx 12 might be similar to these i3/i7 comparisons - a.k.a similar performance for the majority of benchmarks.

I don't get you - DX12 is supposed to utilize all cores evenly, how's that gonna make i3 and i7 even.

I'm also interested on both sides to see how overclocking affects this test. I wonder how an AMD 83xx or 95xx does at 5Ghz+

If you look at the scores, in a gpu limited benchmark the results fall within the margin of error; however that is not to say Directx 12 won't be even faster to clarify the dissimilarities any further.

But I'm sure, there will be some who say that the reports of how awesome DX12 is is a lie ... and Microsoft, nVidia, AND AMD are all lying. rolleyes.gif

Why? No one is saying that. This won't just be DX12, these same kinds of improvements will be a part of Vulcan too.

I agree alot of this has already been explained about VULCAN alot of what Mantle brings cross platform wise and the low level access is being added into VULCAN they are doing this for efficiency and also cost since Mantle is open source and such it can be adopted and used in anyway creators / DEV's want to use it.
