So it may not be as far out there as you may thing.

Besides, there are sources that already are saying the 390X will be "$700+".

While the R9 290X was launched at $550 ... it quickly went up to $900 because the quantities were so low and Bit Mining took off.

They have also released $1000 CPU's that quickly dropped to $400.

So honestly, with AMD, it's hard to tell what their price will be when it ACTUALLY hits the street.
I don't understand why you keep insisting with this nonsense.

Agreed, I remain skeptical.

And price ?

Price: 750$

Price for 780 TI GK110 was 699$

Price for GK104, gtx 680 was 500$, for 980 was 550$

Get the point ?

700$ + 50$ = GM200 980.

So this makes me wonder if I should get a second GTX 970 or just wait for 980 Ti or wait for Pascal.rolleyes.gif

NVidia is really pushing Titan-X for single-precision intense research tasks like deep learning. They've got the DIGITS box with 4-way Titan-X for such customers. It looks to me like that's the target for Titan-X - they don't mind selling some to gamers too, but I expect they will sell more to research customers with intense single-precision workloads. That's also why the Titan-X is purely in reference form factor - better for stuffing into a 4-way SLI research workstation. Those guys aren't looking for water-cooled solutions running at high clocks - better to just buy more DIGITS boxes and run them at stock clocks (where they produce more FLOPS per watt).

No doubt they are saving up GM200 discards for the 980ti - by the time AMD hits with the 390x, they can push out gamer-tuned 980ti's with non-reference cooling and higher clocks.

700$ + 50$ = GM200 980.

You forgot the GTX 780 which launched at $649.

The 980 is over priced by 125$ minimum as of now...

It's not a whole year. Not only is Pascal most likely going to show up in Q1 2016, odds are the 390X won't show up until late Q2 or early Q3 2015.

You seem to forget that they haven't even announced the release date of the R9 360, 370, or 380.

Odds are it will be the typical AMD vs nVidia 6 or so month difference.
