If the rumors are true, the 390x edges the Titan X the same way the 780 Ti did to the 290x at release.

And 390x/Titan X etc have virtually no impact on market share at all.

Except if R9 under cuts nvidias offering, provide better performance, and provide bettwr software, which they will, only die hard nvidia fans will continue buying GTX cards.

R9 does everything you wants for cheaper.

AMD does everything for cheaper yet doesn't stop the average consumer from buying a 960/970. Must be that HDMI 2.0 or simply no Roy twitter feeds. https://twitter.com/amd_roy/status/581866901816504320 / https://twitter.com/SeventyTwo_/status/581867410430562304/photo/1

Must be fun ruining your own companies image by using metrics that even state 'do not compare to other GPUs' in it :/

That would mean Nvidia would have to cut the chips on purpose to disable cores.

I just don't see them releasing the full chip as a 980 Ti. I'm guessing two clusters will be disabled which will give us a 780 to Titan like performance gap.

there are always going to be defects.

nvidia is just waiting for the titan x enthusiasm to die down so they can fill out an entire product line.

no one is going to drop 1k if there is a gpu coming that can be overclocked to titan levels.

Well Roy worked at nVidia for almost 13 years before jumping shipping, so he could be a saboteur for all we know. *takes tinfoil hat off*

I don't think Roy acted like this at Nvidia, did he? At least he wasn't as well known as he is today being a bad mouthpiece. With the way AMD has been regarding management, who knows if there are some saboteurs on the inside.

I think Roy has some deep-seeded embitterment towards AMD, has a long and profitable employment contract and not enough seniors to put a ballgag on his mouth and thumbs. There's no other reason for a seasoned professional to act the way he does unless he considers his job a form of paid retirement.

He's just as brash today as he was back then at Nvidia. The only real difference is that he's got a lot more outlets to do his thing today with all this twittering going on. Hence more outlets for yall to get annoyed lol.

I guess a wider audience and more methods for people to call his bluff would explain it.

It did not seem to bother ppl back then? I dunno... lol read some of this crap he said then vs now.

Quote:
"The UK is the only place in the world where anyone talks about AMD or ATI", said Roy Taylor. Surprisingly enough, Taylor's spreadsheets outlined the graphics market share for the last year, but ATI's chips were not there. However, it is estimated that ATI, Intel and Nvidia managed to pump up 366 million graphics chips during last year. When asked about why ATI was removed from the charts, Taylor said that "no one cares".

Nvidia did not bother to include ATI's "faint" market slice of 18 percent in the final charts. Instead, it claimed that the major battle on the GPU market is carried between Intel and Nvidia.
