Looking to upgrade my current rig...

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to get back into gaming, and I want to upgrade my current rig, and I need some suggestions.

CPU - Intel Core i5 2500
Motherboard - ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE
RAM - 16GB Corsair Vengeance (4x4GB)
Cooling - Stock Intel Fan tongue.gif
Graphics - EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Hard Drive 0 - Kingston HyperX SH100S3B - 120GB
Hard Drive 1 - Seagate ST2000DM001 - 2TB
Hard Drive 2 - Western Digital WD1001FALS - 1TB
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Power - SeaSonic SS-750
Audio - Creative SB Audigy 2
Monitor - Samsung SyncMaster 2343BWX Plus

Two things I was considering upgrading right off the bat was the Cooling & Graphics.

I've already thought about it a little, and I came up with possibly a Corsair H100i, and a Gigabyte GTX970 G1 Gaming being a good start... smile.gif

If you guys can suggest anything else that would be good to upgrade, that would be GREAT!

I was also thinking about OC, but that is another thread all by itself.

Thanks!!!

What games are you looking to play?

There's not really any point in upgrading your cooling solution since your overclocking capabilities are extremely limited.

The right graphics card depends on your gaming resolution. If you're gaming at 1920x1080, the GTX 970 is plenty good. If you can wait, AMD is releasing their next round of video cards in a few months. This would give you more options and possibly knock prices down a little bit. That's what I'm waiting for. Your 560 Ti shouldn't be holding you back that much.

Dont get a Corsair H100i not when you can get air coolers that are just as good and better for less money.
The Noctua NH-U14S is on par with the H100i but its cheaper its more quiet and its way more reliable.

And if you are a quiet freak then you dont want the G1 Gaming as its not the most quiet card around.

I think his graphics could use a lot more help than the processor at this point. I am hoping he meant to say he has a 2500K and not 2500. otherwise cooling would not really be in question.

Please don't get the h100i lol.

Well... I thought I had a 2500K, could of sworn i ordered one 3 years ago, but it's not... mad.gif

Right now I am just playing wot, and my system seems to struggle with it. I have even with the res, and details down. I still have problems. I gave up playing BF3, it was just so choppy whenever a lot of stuff was happening on the screen.

The games I want to play are Witcher, BF4, ARMA III, DAI.

The default resolution for my monitor is 2048 x 1152, and of course I have 3 of them.

Thanks again!

Sell the 2500 for $100 and do one of the following:

Buy a 2500K for $130
Buy a 2600K for $170
Buy a 3770K for $180-$200

Then upgrade cooler and GPU.

You'll be set til Skylake.

I had to OC my 2500K pretty far to get rid of the CPU bottleneck in WoT.
