Annoying Signal Problems Asus GTX 750ti Strix + MSI h97 Gaming 3

Hi everyone,

So during the downtime of my current build i helped a friend build his new pc.

specs as follows:

Mobo: MSI H97 Gaming 3
CPU: 4690k
Ram: Aventir Core Red 8GB
PSU: EVGA 850W Supernova G2
SSD: Kingston 120gb
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1B

GPU: Asus GTX 750ti Strix

so everything works fine when using only on-board graphics owever when i plugin the GPU regardless of where the DVI cableis plugged in i get no signal to the screen which has been working fine with the same cable for over a year on my system and works fine with the on-board graphics (no GPU plugged in).

I cannot install the drivers on the gpu when its not plugged in and as ive never used msi motherboards before im a bit unfamiliar with them so unsure if there is a priority setting i need to change, however i cannot do this while the GPU is inserted as i cannot get to the bios screen as i have no signal.

I have also tried it in my current system (granted its a bit old but it should still work) and nothing works there.

i have called the suppliers and they will take it back to have a look at it, however if there are a few things i can try over the weekend as pick up from courier is on Monday to see if i can avoid the 5-7 days waiting time for testing and RMA.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Try disabling the onboard graphics and setting PCIe to primary (override).

Edit: In bios.

Did you also try it with HDMI, if your monitor supports it?

Ironically I got it to work . Apparently hdmi cables into tv screens work better than dvi cables into computer screens.

However now my older pc which only has 1 pci2 slot won't get signal even though I put the old cpu back in. So now I have no working computer for myself And I have no clue how to even start fixing that as it has no on-board graphics....
