Can you pair two AMD cards together but not for Crossfire?

Say you have a R9 290 and want to use your extra PCIE slot and put a low end card like the 7450 in your computer

1. Can you disable one of the gpus but still have it physically in the PCIE slot?

2. Can you run both together for multiple desktops?

I'd say so, I've run NVIDIA cards alongside my AMD ones and that's not much different.
I don't think it would disable the second card though, whenever you disable crossfire the second GPU starts up. (If ULPS has powered it down, naturally)

It wont even try to crossfire if you dont have a bridge attached. You can use it just fine for other monitors or even mining(if that still happens)

true for the older amd cards but the new ones dont use a bridge any more. Granted op stated 7450 so he wont have any issues with this.

Yes you can mix and match amd / nvidia even if you wanted to the system will just see it as another video device
