Need advice on build.

Thread Starter
Not sure if I am meant to post this here?..

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/qyn8vK

The person I am building this for wants a blue/black colorful scheme, no other colors. Considering this what mobo should I go with? The mobo has to be a maximum of $180, but preferably under #150, it isn't going to be used for overclocking, I just want something which is all black or black and blue with good reliability. Z97 would also be nice.

For any advice on other components: The case most likely has to be that one as stated by the person I am building it for. The budget is $2000 AUD including shipping.

The power supply 500w looks a little weak for that system.

Get the Corsair CS650M Module Power Supply. That should last him through a few upgrades too.

Save $100 AU and get the Gigabyte R9 290X. Does he really need the GTX980? Unless he has a triple monitor setup, kinda waste.

The 290X is the best price/performance card right now. I have one, and its a beast!

I would definitely switch out power supplies. I can see @shilka facepalming right now over that.

I would go with an z97 Asrock extreme4 board over the pro due to the sli ability later if requested. Plus, who wants a tiny board in a full size case?

Lastly, add a cheap crucial SSD if necessary.

I'd say get a Cooler Master V550S - a gold rated semi modular PSU ($115 AUD). Also consider Phanteks Enthoo Pro ($129 AUD).

fully agree with 500watt psu is a bit low and I always recommend at least a 64gb ssd for os

That'll still fit the scheme.

I'm not quite sure how much shipping would be but I left some headroom for that.

As Motley01 mentioned, the GTX 980 isn't really necessary. I know someone who currently owns a G1 Gaming GTX 980, uses two monitors and plays various games such as FarCry and CS:GO. The GTX 980 can be considered as overkill. In saying that, I changed it to a GTX 970.
I changed the motherboard to a black and blue MSI Z97 full ATX motherboard. It has just enough for the build but it can be changed depending on what you want.
I added an H100i which should have customisable backlighting so you can set that to blue if you want to.
I added an SSD and reduced the harddrive to a 1TB drive. I'm currently using a 120GB SSD coupled with a 1TB HDD and it's more than sufficient for my needs. I'm not quite sure of your needs but you can definitely bump it up to a 2TB HDD.
A cheaper, fully equipped, full tower case was added in replacement of the previous one. This case is completely black although you can add lighting and cabling of your choice.
The PSU was changed to a slightly higher wattage PSU with a gold rating. It is also semi modular.

Additional parts can include:
sleeved cabling FULL BLUE OR blue and black pinstripe
LED lighting kit: ONE TWO THREE

Ya but you're not on a budget for entire build. So you get my approval. Well because thats just badass. What monitor are you getting?
