In comparaison with 2 980s. it says 552 Watts, which will probably let me WC my build. In fact the most important thing it's the power bill ^^

I seriously doubt your computer running at 600-700 watts is going to kill the bill.

Go with what fits your budget.

Playing games at 1440p. 980 or the 290x like the guys are saying.

Depends on the resolution and if you can wait

In that case, about $10,000 for a 5960X with Titan X's in Triple-SLI powering three 4K monitors. smile.gif

How much do you want? What is really the limit? Will you be patient to wait months while you buy parts here and there?

To see what changes need to be made to acomplish that idea... that dream that's in the back of your mind?

TCO

I've done both...

1150 Socket (My First attempt) 3000$ (including trial and error {lots of it} )

2011-V3 Attempt 6,500$ later....

Well, what do i really want ? Hmm simple,

A powerfull machine that can run triple screen (1440p) for racing (DiRT 3 mostly) and space opera games. Even if i could sacrifice that if we cannot find an affordable config to run them (800 - 1000€)
For FPS i don't really see the use of triple screen, one big screen is enough (This is why i would like 1440p, 1080p Is good but as 2K and 4K monitors are out now, why not go for 1440p ?)

A powerfull machine that can still be powerfull enough to play games in a decent quality five years later.
With a maximum part took from my actual PC like, RAM, PSU...
This if why i doubt going for 2011-v3 even if my freind's rig drive me crazy smile.gif. But i'll must buy DDR4 which, for me 71€ for 4GB it's kinda expensive.... And new Intel Broadwell CPU will be on 1150 so is 2011-v3 will still be a good choice versus Broadwell ? will see.

I wish i could WC my build to have the benefits of the temps, OC and silence.

I though about what we said yesterday.

A 4790K + 2 R9 290x = 692Watts. Yeah.

But if a single R9 290x can equal a 980 for Half the price, i say YES (Note that a 980 from Gigabyte cost 629€ and a R9 290x from ASUS cost 358€)

I don't like AMD's GPUs mine runs hot, thanks to Powercolor Heatsink. but also because of the drivers. they took much longer times compared to Nvidia to comes out, and the "FPS drop" when something explode in BF4 (Yeah i know Frostbite is a hell of a engine.) BUT for the price, i think i could make this sacrifice... wink.gif

Maybe a r9 390x for more money than a 980.simply a 980 is midrange gpu

X99 only will. be better if you need the extra cores and few games you name support multithreading

on high resolution it does but on cfx, beat a 980

The GTX Titan or gm200 will run as hot as a 780.similar to a 290.

Your fps drops are caused for more than the gpu.first that gpu wont run bf4 on max due to the vram and lack of performance its a low end gpu now a days,bf4 runs better wit. More cores+ipc not at least dx11 has a limited way to use the cpu. So comparing your setup to current amd hw is meaningless

I've never compaired my actual setup with the one we talk about, i'm just... "affraid" to be desapointed i mean, as i said, my GPU runs hot on Powercolor heatsink so i can't OC my GPU, and sometimes i think my gpu runs even hotter. than he reduce his clockspeed. and i've lags indeed.

So i understood what you told me and i've never doubt about OCN members. I post here to have some advices not to be "mad" at anyone who speak about AMD... smile.gif

I'm just looking for a good price/perf/durability build.

And, AMD or not, it will still powerfull than my 1156 current setup wink.gif

When you say runs hot, whats the temp? And what GPU? As for you're pc lagging when something explodes in bf4 that is probably from your CPU and the game physics. And what is exactly wrong with drivers?

My GPU is an HD6850, sometimes on heavy games i reach 75°C. (fan : 80%)

I've played BF4 in medium quality, and i've never had any lags but i said that because i saw a comparaison of AMD R9 290x and GTX 970 / 980 like this one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y_GEvObFRQ

About the drivers, as far as i'm concerned, some versions make me more laggy than others... And Nvidia seems faster than AMD to release a quick beta / fix for newest games...
