SLI MotherBoard Selection

Thread Starter
Looking at this build:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z8KnrH

I've never had an SLI system so I'm just wondering if there are any sub $200 motherboards that will offer good scaling . I see a lot of motherboards with pcie x16 that run at x16 but if you add a second card the second slot and or first slot switch to x8.
Is a x16/x8 relationship going to introduce any bottlenecks?

Again I'm new to the multi GPU idea so I'm trying to play catch up so I choose a functional board that offers the options I'm looking for while offering full SLI capability.
Thoughts, suggestions for a motherboard are needed as I plan of order this weekend. Also do you think two 970 in ski would be sufficient to hold over for gaming the 3 or so years. I would even consider going 3 way SLI as these cards are reasonable enough. Especially with the rumor of dx12 being able to utilize all GPU ram effectively making available 8gb-12gb for a 2-3 was SLI setup.

For two cards you don't need more than x8/x8. I don't have handy links, but there is no real strain on the pcie lanes during SLI. However, for 3 cards you would need more lanes available from the CPU or a PLX chip due to SLI functionality (not crossfire, they run down to x4). PLX chips are available on higher end Z97 boards to get more graphics cards packed in. Alternatively, you can go to X99 for more lanes (28 or 40 depending on CPU) to run the 3rd card.
