My string dump, search "halo"
https://s3.amazonaws.com/randomjunks/strings.txt

EDIT:

Nail in the coffin
Edit there has to be an in game console: I found a list of commands, one of them is
Code:
-show_fps

Good call on the source. Maybe it really is just a heavily modified version of the Halo 3 engine after all? (But who is to say that Halo 4 wasn't that as well?) tongue.gif

Edit: Also, as for the in-game console I know there are references to commands but I cannot find any references to the actual console in-game. I'm sure it exists but It probably has to be enabled via editing the "eldorado.exe" via a hex-editor or something similar. As of now I do not see a way to access the dev console in-game.

Umm idk, I would guess the map/asset formats would be the same. All companies do development on x86 until closer to release for productivity. I would guess the folder layouts might match too!

Edit: off to that thing called sleep.. I'll install windows 10cp in a vm on my machine tomorrow and see what I can do with Ida Pro for getting a server up.

I would just try grabbing a few of the Halo 3 ".map" files and putting them into the Halo Online "maps" folder. Then run the command "HaloFreeLoader.exe (insert ported halo 3 map name here)" like normal and see if it works with the ported map files! biggrin.gif

Edit: Another small update, when using HaloFreeLoader version 0.2 all of the maps are loaded with Halo Online's "Multiplayer Engine" and not the "Singleplayer Engine" according to HaloFreeLoader's developer. Switching from the singleplayer engine (version 0.1) to the multiplayer engine (version 0.2) seems to have caused a pretty significant performance decrease across the board. I now get 25-40 FPS on all maps instead of 50-60 FPS. Interesting...

Thanks for the unintentional knowledge about 0.1 and 0.2 being single and multiplayer. I'll definitely try both.

As far as performance goes I still get 60FPS on both but 0.2 and reactor does have some stutter.

Hello,
Big thanks to everyone whos working on this and for posting everything need to get it up and running.

I was playing around with .cmd files and:

  1. Create a .cmd with the contents "Eldorado" (minus the " for those who don't know). This boots up the game without having to start a cmd prompt and manually enter Eldorado etc.
  2. Then create a another .cmd file and call it something like Turf (mapname), but with the contents "HaloFreeLoader.exe s3d_turf".
  3. Start the game with the first .cmd file you made, then once its booted, alt-tab out and double click on the turf.cmd you made. You may get an error message along the lines "waiting for....", this is just the game still loading, but once its done it will then go straight to loading the map.

I don't know if anyone will find this useful, but if you get sick of copying and pasting this may be a solution.

I have a question though, is there away to link the two cmd files. Something similar to the .bat shortcut for loading isos in dolphin:
Quote:
@echo off
start Dolphin.exe /e "C:\Users\UserName\Emulated\Dolphin\Gamecube\IsoName.iso"

Something like
Quote:
@echo off
start Eldorado.cmd /e "C:\Users\UserName\Emulated\Dolphin\turf.cmd"

Yeah I did a quick restart on my machine and installed the latest Beta drivers from AMD. (15.3) And now I'm back to a silky smooth 50-60FPS on all maps. Even Reactor! So please disregard all my previous statements about performance drop between HaloFreeLoader version 0.1 and version 0.2. Also it appears that Reactor is just a perfectly optimized as the other maps! biggrin.gif

No problem! It's all for fun really. tongue.gif

As for starting the game without needing a CMD I just used a hex editor (look for the post by another user earlier in the thread) to change some values inside of "eldorado.exe" this allowed me to change the language to English, and swap maps without restarting the game and many other things as well. It was super simple. I still like to use the CMD to swap maps though. I'm too lazy to make files for all six maps. I just have a .txt file with all of the maps individual console commands so I can copy/paste them into the CMD.
