X99 with a GTX 680, what should I upgrade to?

Hello all, I've recently built a SFF gaming/future project machine and I am having issues trying to figure out what I should go for as far as the GPU goes.
I recently was looking at a 980 Kingpin but I want to water cool and the card is too large for my case with a water block, Then I thought about the Titan X.
Now I just threw around $3000 into this new build so I will not be able to dump another grand into it for maybe a couple months and currently my 680 Classy can handle most everything I throw at it in 1080 for now. So should I save up for the Titan X or just wait for the next generation nvidia cards?
I also do plan on making the 4K plunge as well.

It really depends on your time table. How soon do you want 4k?

At this moment in time, the Titan X is the only single GPU solution that comes close to providing really acceptable 4k performance in modern titles. It will be quite a while before the next generation of NVIDIA cards, and AMD's Fiji, in addition to being much more of an unknown, may still be months away.

However, I do expect a non-TITAN GM200 part to show up in the near future for well under $1000 dollars, so waiting to see if such an SKU is released, and how the new AMD cards fare, may be prudent.

If you are going with 4k and you can wait.then amd will be releasing their r9 390x with HBM on june

Not a huge fan of AMD, and have always gone Intel/nVidia, so I might just wait for the 1080 or whatever it will be called.
Otherwise I'll likely just go for the Titan X, maybe the EVGA Hydro copper but any HC GPU usually goes out of stock fast. We'll see.

GDDR5 will have lower Bandwidth and easily HBM can outperform it at high res.plus buying over peoced old technology?thats overpriced compared to the HBM offering

GDDR5 is just fine for 4k...

Either way, unless you want to go with several 980s or multiple Titan Xs you're better off waiting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxUZPvzsPXY - Two Sli Titan X 5K

Jayztwocents has a very convincing review on the Titan X and it's ability to run 4K off a single card with very good results. Depending on what you play a single Titan X at 4K is plausible. Linustechtips shows Two Titan X cards are capable of running a 5K monitor just to demonstrate the amount of power they do have.
