How much would you pay, tops, for a VPN?

I'm not sure if this is the right board or not, but oh well.

My company is thinking about rebranding their VPN line and charging a possible maximum of $100/mo. Would you ever pay that and what features would you expect for that?

No way I would pay that much. I could get a complete VPS for less than that and use it for a VPN and whatever else.

But what features would you expect if you were paying that much?

Like if you were doing something sketchy, would you pay that much for a subpoena non-compliant provider such as a Russian based company?

For $1200 a year I'd be expecting a hell of a lot more than my VPN to be non compliant if subpoenaed. Nothing that could be said on this forum...but a lot more. That's more than I pay for internet alone. I'm highly curious to know what kind of service you could possibly provide to command such a price tag?

DDoS protection is limited unless the company is huge or utilizing external resources.
I would not want a VPN to also be my storage company either.... eggs in the same basket and all.
What's a "safe country"?

The company is a decent size since we do privacy conscious hosting and colocation around Europe.

A safe country is defined as a country with no or limited MLATs with major countries (Offshore) and where the consideration of State interference will be of minimal importance in the making of strategic decisions.

"Decent size".... can it defend from a 10 or 100Gbps attack? If not, it would be more like "DDoS Mitigation" rather than "DDoS Protection".

Having no or limited MLATs does not make you safe... State interference for strategic decisions is one thing..... how about state request for data or information which is a separate topic?

$100/mo? Never.

Like if you were doing something sketchy, would you pay that much for a subpoena non-compliant provider such as a Russian based company?

You do understand all the Russian internet traffic goes trough FSB right?

For $100 a month I could get the same speed to my home already. (Yes, 150 Megabytes).

AFAIK in the EU as soon as there's a warrant you MUST give out the data. I might be wrong about this but I've heard similar stories.

Not to even mention that there are full root servers out there that cost half of that and You can basically do what ever You want with them. Or just take your own to "colo" and pay the same price You are thinking about.
