Whats important to remember is that a government isnt simply some entity, its still just a body of individuals.

I may trust the government in some capacity more than others, but its the individuals that I fear to take advantage of the power bestowed upon them.

This actually happened to relatively well known English professor, he was beaten by cops and jailed for a day

In Australia you do not have a Bill of Rights and there is no express right to Privacy in their Constitution.

So this is really just a troll thread for political idealism. lol

i just rememberd there is a law in england that everybody breaks and as far as i remember it is still in the law books its the law that every male over the age off 12 is obliged to do longbow practice after church on a sunday in case off invasion from france and that law has been active since the 11 century
off cours if someone did go and do longbow practice on sunday they would be arrested for carrying a deadly weapon

You keep telling yourself that. Governments that take draconian measures rarely stop where you think they should.

Malcolm Turnbull is that you? lachen.gif

The point is data retention takes away all online privacy, I dunno about all of you guys but I don't particularly like the thought of being stalked (yes because that's what it is essentially) by thousands of random government workers and spy agency's around the world (a lot of this data will be silently shared as usual or just straight up taken) and have them know every single detail of my life.

But the thing that really pisses me off about this whole data retention crap is there using the same scare tactic they've been using for years (terrorism, even tho data retention wont find any serious "terrorist") to make people think its perfectly ok and because most people are to stupid or to scared to think for themselves they just go along with it without question (this is one of the reasons why the world so so screwed up now).

I see this data retention back firing pretty seriously and thousands of people having bank accounts and identity's stolen by the end of the year (seeing most of the data will be stored on unsecured servers hosted by ISP).
