Disney have revealed an infographic detailing exactly where Star Wars Battlefront is in the Star Wars Episode it related too. It fits into the official Star Wars canon, among the movies and television shows.
I'm excited for this game, but I am keeping in mind the bad releases EA has had recently. No Pre-order for me, and that probably means I'll miss some pre order bonus.
Isn't DICE Sweden behind Battlefront? The same devs responsible for the catastrophic sphaghetti-coded mess that was BF4. Seriously, the more you look into it the more obvious it becomes that EA wasn't entirely responsible for that launch - the very foundations of the game's code were so badly designed that it took DICE LA almost 10 months to fix things (and they still have a long way to go).
Pardon me for my lack of faith in this developer, because from what I've seen they are idiots.
On top of that this is still EA we're talking about, who are determined to remain as anti-consumer as possible.
Add up all that and Battlefront has a VERY slim chance of being good considering the publisher and developer behind it. It's a tragedy waiting to happen.

They both worked on the game but it was mainly Dice Sweden. It was not the developers fault but EA for pushing it to that day. EA wanted to release the game even if it was broken.

Ugh. You have no idea how much work goes into a "reskin". They have to make new meshes, textures, particle effects which entails coding then you have level design, etc.
A reskin would be talking BF4 and changing all the textures to awful renditions of teletubbies stretched over the original meshes. It's comments like these which give PC gamers a bad name, please don't make them, for all our sakes.

EA may have pushed to release, but BF4 should never even come close to how terribly designed it was especially that close to when the game was supposed to release. Blame EA all you want, but a developer for a major publisher cant just take an extra 2 years to create a working title.
Good lord you people are pessimistic. We know NOTHING about this game, and yet you people are profiling it from past mistakes. There is no way DICE will screw this up that bad. They've already said it's not a reskin, anyway. A whole new game on the same engine. Give 'em a chance to make things right, guys.
Besides EA and DICE being in this, so is Disney. They are very good with their properties (so far.)
If Disney don't approve it's release, it don't get released...
Also......After what happened with the mess that is BF4 and the game having to be moved to DICE LA, I don't see there being a huge issue with this release.

I don't even know where to begin. If you think that you can reskin BF4/Hardline into a Star Wars game you're delusional. But then again, this is the trend now days, right? Lets make comments about things we don't have a clue about then get bitter when someone tells you that your hate train is based off of ignorance.
Hate the game for what it is, not what you don't know it will be and what it in all likelyhood will not be. Yeeesh.

it's lowered expectations based on their last few releases. I would love to be surprised by this game but nothing they have done since BF3 has warranted any good faith.

If this is as good or better than BF4 without the bad start then this game will be god damn epic. Definitely a no pre-order on this though. Also just as an aside DICE and EA are the same entity you can't blame one without the other.

I honestly never had a serious problem with BF4. Played it since day one and the only two problems I had were audio cut outs with my AMD HDMI sound, and that the hit boxes were just a little to big around the players. Aside from that I didn't notice anymore technical issues at launch than BF3 had...
The balancing was a bit off at the start but that is to be expected in a almost solely mp game, trial and error fix all. But one firearm should not do more damage than another if they are the same caliber. Kills me that the SCAR and M4 in the same caliber have different damage and range. Both shoot 5.56nato both have the same 16" barrel, and both have the same trigger pull, weigh almost the same, recoil almost the same (source I own and shoot both weapons) Further more, a suppressor does not decrease range nor does it effect the ballistics of the projectile. All it does is stop the gasses from escaping as normal and making the loud bang noise. If its not subsonic ammo the bullet will still break the sound barrier and still make a loud crack noise. Most rifle rounds are already supersonic by the time it exits the barrel allowing the noise of the projectile going supersonic to be contained inside the aluminum baffles of the suppressor. (source I own a suppressor for both my AR and SCAR). I want a the shooter genre to fix this and make a more realistic, fast passe shooter, that isn't as technical as the Arma series. /endrant
On topic: I just hope it lives up to its previous title. I loved Battlefront II and played it for hours on end on PS2 with my buddies back in the day. Cant wait for the new one.
