[WCCF] AMD CPU And GPU Roadmaps For 2015-2020 Officially Emerge - Page 6

wow whomever made those charts must be a retro gamer.. it's so 1970s!

Here's what I expect.

A horoscope has a better chance of coming true.
A horoscope is made to come true so in that respect a AMD roadmap actually says something about future products that doesn't hold true for everyone anyways.
A horoscope is very "accurate" because the scenario depicted can go for almost all people that read it with a bit of imagination. Every roadmap by any company is therefore a bigger achievement than a horoscope because a roadmap tells something that has a good chance of happening in the future while a horoscope is something like saying the sky appears blue.

A 300W APU...
Damnnnn.

I don't know how it will perform, but it will sure be interesting to see if it comes to the market & how it performs.
I actually really like the APU design for portable applications. It's powerful but less messy than trying to combine a GPU and CPU.
For example on my laptop the Intel IGPU is always trying to turn off the Nvidia GPU, you can never tell if you're using the hardware you paid for.

The problem here is Nvidia doesn't make an X86 SOC.

I'll admit to ignoring almost everything just because it's WCCF, but HPC APU sounds about right. What better way to push HSA than to wave their tempting little chips in front of those that want to pack the most into as little a space as possible? No one else can touch AMD on that front right now, and they certainly won't for quite some time if AMD truly does decide to go balls to the wall on this.

Just because they've found someone capable of making up plausible rumours doesn't stop WCCF being made-up clickbait.

Just because something is normally made up of click-bait doesn't mean it can't be correct sometimes. Infinite monkeys and typewriters and all that.

Does that mean they're likely to rev down their graphics card manufacturing? I'm all for integration (I certainly don't miss dedicated sound or network cards), but I kinda like my graphics card rolleyes.gif

Unlikely, APUs replace CPUs, not dGPUs.

Also the sound and network cards are still not on-chip yet for the most part, they're just on the motherboard, eating up some of your PCI-e lanes.

Only a lunatic would expext more than PhenomII IPC with a die shrink performance out of AMD.

Thuban flavored quad with a 280x GPU on one die is more than enough to drag me back into the fold.

Only a lunatic would think that a from-scratch design with the guy who made the Athlon 64 in charge of it would even remotely compare to a old and outdated arch.

Actually, last time I walked by their offices here for R&D in orlando....there was just a bunch of cats with ties on. Even the secretary was a cat.

Curious, last time I walked by their HQ in Sunnyvale I saw monkeys with typewriters. Or maybe that was just their marketing department. *shrug*
