Setup help for Noob for secure VPN/Proxy

Thread Starter
I have previously had Boxpn which I could work out how to set up but I was thinking of joining PIA given recent changes to the law.

Does anyone have a link or some sort of manual for a noob on how to set up a Proxy/Socks5 to make it even more secure?

I have also heard mention of a "kill switch" on PIA that stops data coming in if the VPN drops out, is this something built in to their software/VPN service or do I need to change settings within Bittorrent/UTorrent? I have also read about ways to stop PTP data in case of the VPN dropping out, not sure if this is the same as the kill switch?

I currently use Tixati as it seems very easy to use and simple interface, could I set this up for a VPN or would I need to use bittorrent?

Thanks for any advice/tips

PIA is easy to use. The kill switch functionality is built into their app.
