Though not all films are as strong as that. The ones on the swift are very acceptable.
Glossy can look better, not always though.

yep, i remember someone saying in that thread that it's an example of a pretty bad AR film.

i'm not entirely convinced of the blur-removing capabilities of non-TN screens, as i had a flawless eizo fg2421, it tended so smear dark colors despite its turbo240 mode, so i had to return it.

anyway, relevant thread:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1549433/rog-swift-vs-acer-xb270hu-real-life-taste-test-guess-which-is-which-take-the-poll

little difference imo (i have to look at this closely on the overlord though, i'm not at home)

the TN is a bit more pale, see the wooden house fronts, but the glowing colors of IPS can also make things harder to distinguish

depends on how the owner of these monitors have calibrated them.
+ photo quality

The IPS does have a better quality image from that picture, you can tell the blacks are blacker.
And the image is sharper.

I can vouch, that this monitor is gorgeous. Regardless if its a TN, or if it has a matte finish.
Also if you get one now, im sure it is the second revision. Fixes some issues.

The G-sync, the trace free 1ms response time, the 144hz, the on-the-fly Hz switching, the light indicator, the 3D, the 120hz ULMB, the thin bezel, the build quality, the stand/swivel, the menu joystick.

It looks amazing in game. This photo was taken with my iPhone. And it still does it no justice,

I'll give this ICC profile a try. What OSD settings are you using it with?

Cheers

Also if you are buying a swift, make sure its manufacturer date is October or November 2014, nothing earlier as these revision fixed the pixel inversion issue.
(check under the monitor, near the DP output)

My settings are

Brightness 70
Contrast 54

Color temp all 96 (i don't know if that's the same as having them all 100, maybe)

I briefly owned the ROG Swift, but had to return it due to the pixel inversion issue. I kept seeing brief green, stripy (every other column of pixels?) after images when there were high contrast changes on the screen. Exampls include explosions in games, health bars in DOTA2, etc. It was really annoying. Colours were fine head-on, but the size of the screen meant the bottom of the screen was at an angle where the TN panel viewing angle came into play unless I tilted the monitor up to face my eyes head on. But honestly, if not for the pixel invesrion, I would have kept that monitor; it was gorgeous. And the joystick for screen controls and quick-changing of refresh rates was really handy.

The Asus is a drop-in replacement colour/image wise for my Dell 2711U. But the response rate is fantastic. Very slightly less snappy (I think?) than the ROG was, but hard to tell without them side to side. Either way, its freakin' awesome. Gsync is great, 144 Hz is great. The lag is great. Colours are great. The only things I don't like are (a) the glossy trim, though not a major factor, and (b) the antiglare coating is less effective than the Acer (though maybe that's why there is less screendoor effect, I dunno). Oh, and the OSD is barebones and too many clicks to figure out if you are actually in GSync mode or not (though less of an issue now that the latest NVidia drivers seem to have it enabled more frequently).

Cheers

BTW, mine was a November 2014. It still had pixel inversion. Not everyone is sensitive to it.
