Thanks guys. And as for the question NVMe vs AHCi, basically as ondoy said, new vs old protocol. NVMe allowed for more iops and less latency and lower load on the cpu and less heat output mainly. I'll tell u more about the differences it makes on the sm951 when I finish testing the NVMe model I just got...speaking of which...

Exciting! I'd be curious to see if there's any noticeable day to day difference between the AHCI and NVMe SM951.

oh nice, can't wait for the review... thumb.gif

nice review on the ahci version! Also looking forward to see nvme review..especially how much decreased latency helps 4k random.

For any one wanting a black PCB m.2 to PCIe adapter for their SM951, found one on e bay

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JZLL-Adapter-Card-to-PCI-E-4X-for-M-2-NGFF-SSD-XP941-SM951-M6E-SSD-adapter-/321752960100?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae9f88c64

Also I am trying to integrate my SM951 into the watercooling loop using a ram block, will post updates.

Hi, sean how long till the NVMe review is up? I haven't actually bought my SM951, will prob wait if the NVMe is better in other aspects, I don't really care about iops.

Either Tuesday or Thursday it should be published. I haven't done any in depth testing more than standard benchmarks, but so far it has faster 4k read and write, even at a smaller capacity and pcmark vantage scored a bit higher. So if the price is similar I'd just get the NVMe version without looking into more tests first. But I'll update u later today after pcmark 8 extended is done running.

what about temperatures? Does the NVMe hit 80c as well during load?

No clue, I haven't tested that yet. But remember, hitting that high of a temperature is very unlikely in real world use.

How can we know that it is the NVMe version? Does it have diferent PN or something?

Thanks!
