BUT I have very very annoying problem here ... please help me here. Build new rig:

Asus Z170-A
i7 6700k
Kingston 2x8GB 2400MHz DDR4

In BIOS menu on board devices I select M.2 mode then hit save ant Windows boots in M.2 fast mode. If I restart computer, it boots in SATA Express mode, which gives me only 85MB/s on benchmarks and system feels very sluggish.

I am quite novice in this, so maybe I am doing something wrong. Maybe there are other settings which should be trieggered? This is very very embarrassing me ... mad.gif

Tanks in advance!
In bios; Try "csm" enabled and "storage orom" = uefi only

or it has to be the 2nd pci-e lane. 1st lane taken by graphic card

In my machine fitting the 512GB SM951 in the 3rd slot would work for 10-20 minutes then the speed would drop to 40-80MB/s. Putting it in the 2nd PCIE slot has fixed the problem.

Clearly llantant has not had similar problems. I note he is using a 256GB card - can't see why it should matter but maybe that's why his works and mine doesn't.

No - you clearly don't have any idea, nor have you spent the past 2 weeks working on a fix for the problem I, and a number of others, were having. There really is no need to be so rude / arrogant / dismissive.

Thans for reply. CSM is already enabled, and if I select storage oprom to uefi only, computer boots only to BIOS. Maybe there are any other suggestions?

What adjustments?

The trial version didn't show any temperatures for the nvme...
I was not going to buy it.

This is a fairly large thread and I did some searches but came up empty. I have a MZHPV512HDGL-00000 and it's running the BXW2500Q firmware. Has anyone been able to find a source for firmware updates for these? Is there a newer firmware for this model? I'm trying to figure out windows 10 kernel crashes and trying to update all my firmware microcodes.

AIDA64 Beta versions from all September dates show temps for SM951 NVMe (X99 onboard M.2 connector) in Win 10 using Microsoft driver. Low level S.M.A.R.T. must be enabled but is by default.

Can we use these new black ones(or even old ones) on Z97 + Asus Hyper M.2 X4 card ?
So it will be in PCIe 2.0 4x.
What speeds are achievable in PCIe 2.0 4x?
or whats the best SSD to get to utilize PCIe 2.0 4x the most?

Hey guys, I've got a SM951 128GB NVMe card with the BXW7 firmware. Does anyone know if the newer firmware referred to by this article is available? http://www.legitreviews.com/samsung-sm951-nvme-m-2-pcie-ssd-review_162219/9

Also, do you guys recommend checking the "Turn off write-buffer cache" setting it refers to? I couldn't tell if that was recommended all the time or just for benchmarks.

Cheers!
