Yeah I had this driver but some one here advised against it. I checked to see if trim was working and it was. I should have stuck with it.

Aaaaand no driver, which was announced. f-m-l.

Why do you need driver?

My sm951 works very vell with the stock windows nvme driver. It is almost too fast biggrin.gif

Many thanks for this confirmation, have been considering switching to it for some time on a Windows 10 X99 system but mixed feedback from less qualified users than yourself had put me off.

Just for giggles, I ran the Windows Experience Index, and my 5930k got 7.8, but the rest were 7.9's (including the SM951 NVME as primary drive). I haven't gotten around to overlcocking the CPU yet, so maybe we'll have aces eventually.

If Windows 10 and my video editing software didn't have such a bad relationship, I might upgrade to 10.

Amazon.com lists October 29. I would put in an order, but then I'd have to pay state sales tax. mad.gif
Think I'll just sit back and wait the extra month (and hope the actual availability date turns out to be sooner).

Incidentally, excaliberpc.com also claims November 5. Not sure how reliable their service is though.

Hi

I'm having real trouble installing my OS on my SM951.
I've scoured everywhere, made several UEFI USBs using different programs, tried all manner of bios configurations, got raid drivers from other manufacturers, tried both M.2 slots, and I'm at a loss.

Everything I've followed gets to the "and when you run the windows install you should now see your ssd listed" But I don't frown.gif

I'm trying to install Win 8.1 and then intend to update to Win10. I've got a Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 7, an SM951 ACHI, no other sata drives plugged in, my GPU is now unplugged.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steven

As a first thing I would double-check the BIOS is the latest version.

No no, I meant the motherboard BIOS.

I updated to F5 which seemed to be the latest, there was an F5b, but that had an early date of release
