Tri-X R9-290X OC: 11226-00 vs 11226-16 "New Version"

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

From what I've read over the past few days, it seems that the R9 290X is the way to go for 1440p gaming, over the GTX 970. I only have plans for running a single card for now, but may upgrade to crossfire in 6 months or so from now.

Is there a big difference between the following Tri-X R9-290X OC cards? The only thing I could find was a slightly different clock speeds on the memory. They have different SKU numbers, and the 11226-16 card is shown as "New version" on the Sapphire website. I'm not sure if it's worth waiting for the new version to come back in stock considering the "older" version can be on my doorstep tomorrow.

11226-00:

11226-16:

Any input is appreciated.

Three days ago there was a bunch of 290x for 279 bucks, they sold out pretty fast.

There are a few now at 299.

I should also add that I don't mind spending a few extra dollars to get it on Amazon and to get the best manufacturer.

If you like that sapphire one i linked the newest updated version that has DX12 support for 314 bucks in my last post. The one for 299 is an asus with only 2 fans.

Awesome, the one on NewEgg looks like the new version as well. I'll just pick that up and be patient with the shipping.

Edit: For anyone else looking, Promo Code EMCARKT42 knocks off 10%! I just placed an order for one.

Same here. The QX2710 got here in 2 days from Korea. Plus, I'm only an hour from their warehouse so I'm hoping I can still get it in time for the weekend. I appreciate your help
