I need help with my A10 7850k overclocking

Thread Starter
I currently have the following setup: A10 7850k along with the ASrock A88x HD+ mobo and 2133 corsair vengeance ram with 10-11-11-31-1T timings. In my bios it is the latest version from as rocks site but the maximum I can up the GPU core to is 900, for it to be stable at that speed I have to up the NB/Gfx voltage to 1.375. The only voltages I can change are the CPU and the SB and NB in my bios, oh NB is running at 1800mhz by the way. I am worried about my NB voltage and whether it's too high, occasionally I get the odd crash where I have to do a hard reset when my GPU is at 900 unless the voltage is around 1.4 on NB is this too high?

Can anyone offer any advice? is 1.4 NB okay on voltage?

I'm not sure how safe 1.4v is on the NB is but you probably do not need it that high. The NB speed is probably your iGPU stability issue, set it to 2000MHz and see if you can manage with 1.25v. If not try going up in very small increments.

So I upped the NB frequency to 2000, I also updated my bios to the beta version, my bios now allows me to set the GPU at higher than 900 but I still need to put the NB/Gfx Voltage at 1.375 in order to get stable on 900mhz GPU, core c6 disabled, turbo core disabled, AMD power management disabled I guess I will just have to keep it at 1.4 to be totally stable, I have a decent after market CPU heat sink from Arctic anyway so high temps arnt an issue, when overclock to 900 after hours of gameplay I see a maximum of 48C

Overclocking is hit-or-miss. Personally I get the heeby-jeebies running more than 1.325v vNB (I have gone over this for short periods of time) on my A10-7700k, and really 1.275 is the only cited "safe" limit that I've seen anywhere. Take that with a grain of salt. Personally, I would not want my NB at 1.4v for any extended period of time. It might never cause you any trouble, though.

Before you settle on pushing your iGPU to 900 mhz, I'd suggest benching it at different clockspeeds to see if you're gaining anything in the GPU-intensive applications that you run (games?). With DDR3-2133, your best performance boost will be from a RAM overclock to DDR3-2400. I have to say I'm impressed that you've got DDR3-2133 1T, and sadly, you might have to go to 2T to make DDR3-2400 work. I doubt the iGPU will care about 1T vs 2T though. It might.

I had it as high as 1.3 for several weeks, but I then noticed I had overlooked NB LLC in my BIOS. With medium LLC, I was able to back down to 1.2v and haven't has issue since. But I'm betting his board doesn't have that feature.

I wondered about command rate performance with Kaveri, I've never read of anyone testing it. At my current 2133 9-11-10-28, 1T won't boot for me. And something in my system hates 2400.

I definitely need to do some benchmarking good point, I do feel slight differences when I up the IGPU to 900 during gameplay but nothing major, I think it may be my motherboard that's holding me back to be honest, I feel the chip could do more but the mobo can't handle it, and unfortunately the max speed for ram it can handle is 2133. I got to say though this Corsair vengeance CL9 1600 kit, what a piece of kit I have voltage on 1.62 at 2133 no issues

Shouldn't there still be an option to alter the LLC in my bios? Because I cant see it anywhere
post #10 of 20
2133 is fine, you might see if you can tighten the timings any. Some reviews on Kaveri RAM speed scaling said 2133 CAS 9 was the "sweet spot".

I don't know how common NB LLC is for micro-ATX boards, it's very likely you do not have it.
