Kotor II crash fix?

Thread Starter
I just finished Kotor 1 a couple weeks ago and had decided to do another run through of Kotor II. Everything up to character creation ran great but the initial cut-scene at the beginning is where everything goes down hill. 9/10 times the game will crash and throw an error, and the remaining times i've tried, it freezes with a loud buzzing noise that forces me to restart my pc.
Ive read that Kotor II doesnt support 16:9, and that i basically need to run the game in windowed mode with Cut-scenes disabled. (That hasnt helped)
I had no issues with Kotor 1, so im wondering why a game that is actually newer, isn't compatible with modern gaming pcs, AND why Steam is selling this game if no one can get it running properly?

If anyone has found a work around for these issues, id be grateful if someone could share that info with me biggrin.gif

Where have you looked for help??

Pcgaming wiki has some links
pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_%E2%80%93_The_Sith_Lords

Have you put any mods or anything of that sort other than the widescreen and such??

I found that simply playing in an XP VM solves all problems for both games.

This Wiki helped out. It said to try to disable (Frame buffer) in the graphics settings for people that are running Ati cards. I proceeded to do exactly that, and no more crashes smile.gif

Thanks
