Fake Razer Krait(1600dpi version)

Ordered from a newegg seller a couple of weeks back out of curiosity. It seemed too good to be true, but I had to take the plunge to find out.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826153108

I got an obvious fake. Apologies for the phone quality images, I took the fake krait apart in a hurry, so the photos taken are all over the place.

Pictures of a real krait here: http://article.pchome.net/content-82925-all.html

Quick observations:

1. Entire mouse is rubber coated.
2. The generic red braided usb cable so many budget mice use.
3. Mousewheel is orange and not clear
4. Side panels are orange and not clear
5. The razer logo is not the correct one at all

1. lol TTC switches instead of omrons.
2. Lens assembly differs from the original krait
3. Bizarro pcb, and I don't know if the s3088 sensor is fake or not. Most likely is.

1. Half assed job of rubbing off the mcu's label

So yeah, garbage fake mouse.

So sad that NewEgg has to allow 3rd party sellers to sell counterfeit products on their site. You have to sort through by sellers now. Even places like BestBuy and Walmart allow 3rd party sellers now. It's been an ongoing trend for online sites now to allow 3rd party sellers to list items for sale on their site. At least with Amazon you can return it to the seller if the item is counterfeit or not as pictured or you get the bait and switch. So you're sort of protected.

What about the sensor performance? Internals looks generic. Except the switches and the cable.

Krait internals from an angle:

I'll do it, but the mouse will be without skates. They had already fallen off when I unraveled the bubble wrap containing the fake mouse.

Edit:

mcu is the elan controller used in the original krait iirc

So both have similar stability at 1000hz, unstable. Stable at 500hz as usual. I would throw up the mousetester graphs but the original krait can actually glide perfectly without skates. The fake pile of garbage that is larger, fatter and heavier is impossible without any feet.

Also, original krait is faster by 3.9-11.9ms in the bump tests. Both have slight prediction.

Bonus pic. Thanks for wasting my time Logitech.

PCB and internal parts look legitimate (including Lens). I would assume it works with Razer software just fine.

Seems as if the rest of the mouse is "refurbished" by a 3rd party and or uses counterfeit parts. (Top plate, bottom plate, cable, and resoldered switches).

are the mousefeet the same as the original? if the internals are the same i'm pretty tempted to buy one and check it out & just replace mousefeet

I'll get some new krait feet soon. The ones that came with it were too thick and had sharp edges. The weight distribution is off and I think the lens is loose since the area where it sits is not a perfect fit.

Yeah, I'm used to seeing the deathadder and abyssus fakes. This seems like a refurbished krait pcb thrown into a new larger shell. Didn't razer itself also use white ttc switches at times? It also works with the driver.

I don't have the proper triangle bit to open my original krait so I'll use pictures from: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/topic/80485-razer-krait-mod/

So the refurb pcb is a later revision of the krait pcb I guess? Kinda like how the deathadder 3g went through a bunch of revisions? I'm pretty confused now.

Just opened my own krait after getting the screw off. Same Rev:D pcb as the knockoff krait I bought from the Chinese seller. So I'm definitely going to refurb my own krait now. However, I do not know whether or not I will end up using the pcb from the knockoff krait.

So if you are willing to pay $36.00 for a legit krait pcb with re-soldered ttc switches with an unusable shell and cord then this is your lucky day?

I'd spend my money elsewhere personally now that I know what the knockoff product is.
