Here's the only picture I took at EGL of the BYOC section that came out well. They did about 200 BYOC seats then 200 console seats. Personally I'm not too worried with EGL taking over the true LAN scene from OCN and AMD as they've been able to do well beyond what we ever were. Two day LAN, united the console and PC gaming communities of Toronto, had the venue open over-night, and had a solid 250 mbps up and down connection. Keep in mind they also did all of this with less direct sponsor support. This is kind of a double edged sword though as I'm sure they had more freedom than we had to pursue a more traditional LAN party format. We'll have to wait and see what becomes of the ExtravaLANzas. Personally I'm surprised AMD didn't just become Enthusiast Gaming Live's title sponsor for the BYOC LAN section as it seems they'll be doing a smaller event right after what was probably the first entry in Toronto's new premier LAN party.

I feel like OCN LANs that have gone well are the ones with less people mostly focused in Hardware side of LAN and AAA gaming then Dota 2, CS, LoL etc. Personally i hope AMD can still partner up with OCN in the future and continue to make the LANs at their HQ.

Hard to say. We always struggled with getting a strong benching turnout in Toronto. The Grand Champion Series events were designed around competition from the get go. Our original concept was actually to have the entire event as one giant series of smaller competitions with a 'Grand Champion' crowned across various benching and gaming based on a points system. The first ExtravaLANza was designed to be more casual with the pickup game style but we ditched that format after all the scheduling troubles created by no-shows and teams that weren't invested taking what they were doing seriously. Our second Grand Champion Series event at the Berkley Church showed the huge demand we had for gaming tournaments when we accidentally oversold Dota 2 and CS:GO to 10 teams instead of 8, which compensated for our inability to draw out a full 8 teams for TF2 that time around. I think we also had a smaller turnout for benching which was disappointing. The second ExtravaLANza was kind of the high point of our events as it ran much more smoothly than any of our previous endeavors but it was also somewhat marred by our lack of freedom due to time constraints. If OCN makes a return to Toronto I think it'd be best to do so as a sponsor or non-hosting partner. We were only really moonlighting in event hosting; ESChamp and the other production companies in Toronto host events year round all over the province. We were only able to iterate and improve once a year while those guys do the same cycle every month.

It's not.

It's being held at a place called

"Hunter and Lucas eSports Club"

Place is basically an internet cafe with 100 pcs.

Ironic part is they all run Nvidia cards lol

Once a year is fine. I know most demand is about Tournament gaming but casual LANs are the best. If i where to rank the 4 LANs that we had it would be 2012 AMD LAN, First OCN Lan, 2014 AMD LAN and last is the LAN @ the Church. I feel like 100-120 people is more then enough for OCN LAN. You are right, OCN does not need to host. They can just be past of AMD LAN.

too bad this new amd event isn't a LAN at all, it's more of a tournament then anything. I mean it's 100 slots. 8 teams for csgo (5 people per) and dota (also 5) and 20 starcraft players.

Not to mention it's being held at an internet cafe lol

No casual spots at all, all competitive.

Well since OCN changed management AMD had no other place to go.

We just didn't have that conversation with AMD this year, regardless of the negotiations which were ongoing at the time. I'm not sure whether that was due to them seeking another direction, admin being occupied / too busy, or whatever other reason(s) may have come into play - but the acquisition itself wouldn't have been reason for us to call off LAN plans. Wikia's approach has been to pick up with what we are currently doing and continue to run with it. I think we all agree we'd love to collaborate with AMD again in the future.

That would be great. There are many here that would like LAN in Toronto to happen. Many of us here would also help to organize the LAN.

I truly think AMD needs to grab the bull by the horns here, Intel does LAN events all over the U.S. and with AMD's slogan "Gaming Evolved" I think this would make a great statement for them. I am not a fan boy by any means, I have one rig with an Intel cpu but all the rest of my rigs are AMD based with cpu and gpu and that is only because it all comes down to price for me, I like a lot of different hardware but I think if AMD wants to make a big statement they should host LANs all over and do what they have done at the last one just bigger and more people.
