So I wanted to have a decent little gaming rig again. Problem is I'm having to do it with almost no budget, and it has to fit into the tower cabinet of my desk. So that is where we start.
Currently I’m running a very light weight system; an i3-3225, on an ASUS P8H77-I m-ITX board, in a Lian Li PC-Q07. On-board HD4000 graphics and 8Gb memory.
This is the space I have to work with; (the i3 guts are still sitting there while I get ready to do surgery!!)
Im basically doing this with only a couple hundred bucks after reselling my current board and processor. Only a few of my current components are being reused. Namely the memory and the case. I’ve been having to do my searching for bargains in the parts I need to buy. Here is what I have come up with thus far.
I5-3570K, cus if I’m going to switch to and i5 I might as well as be able to OC the thing.
ASRock Z77E-ITX, I basically got this for a song ($20 on Craigslist) because the guy was having bios reset issues. Turned out the battery holder had broken away from the board. Repair and re-solder, BOOM works perfectly.
Rosewill 630W PSU.
EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Basically brand new.Edited by no_safe_HAVEN - 5/23/15 at 3:11pm
