good thing bios load doesn't take more than a few seconds now.

No boot before a 15 minute EU ad. (God I hate those...)

Just boot and never reboot again. Also unplug the speakers and power down the screen and do something else while you wait. Talk about intrusive scenario.

Isn't haswell already twice as fast as AMD FX in single-threaded at same clock ? I mean just look at i7 4790K and FX-8350, both have same clock

CB 15 might favour Intel. Dolphin relies heavily on AVX which doesn't work correctly in the Bulldozer family. As for the other bench I'm not sure.

Either way no it's more like 50%

This is just my opinion but I hate when people compare things "at the same clock" - maybe Intel should start clocking their CPUs higher in factory then? Stock vs stock or nothing. Half of the chips out there wont be even overclocked and yes, I also mean K chips. A LOT of people buy them because...uhhh, Intel K e-peen.

AVX isn't working since the benches are single-threaded and FMA4 isn't obviously being used either. That massively exaggerates the gap between them. The i7-4790k is actually running at 4,4GHz which is more than any AMD CPU in there.

I agree but since this is a thread that is supposed to be mainly about AMD's Zen IPC, it is kind of relevant to compare at the same clock.

Well, that's true. thumb.gif

Dolphin does not take the advantage of AVX

THere is unofficial custom builds of Dolphin that take advantage of SSE4 and AVX, but there is almost no performance increase over regular over Dolphin. Bulldozer supports AVX anyway (not AVX2 though)

Zen better be good. If its close to sandy bridge in terms of IPC and efficiency, the 16 core models will sell and AMD will be able to make some gains in server market segment, where the real money is made. AMD cannot survive long term with out at least 20+% of x86 server market. They need to make something they can sell at a fat margin.
