x99 Motherboard decision dilema

Thread Starter
So I have a 5930k just sitting here on my desk that I've had since January. I recently updated my old 10 year old pc to a Z97 gryhpon board with an G3258 and a new Asus GTX 970 Strix. I know the dual core isn't the best for many new games so I was thinking of buying a 4690k then over time finish my x99 build and then make the z97 my either htpc or editing pc. But for about $100-$200 more than the 4690k I can get a X99 motherboard and Ram which is all I need if I transfer over my current setup. So now I'm stuck as to what motherboard to get. I'm not big into the red and black theme and white is ehh. I've been looking at the MSI x99 sli plus motherboard which after rebate can get for ~$160 then another ~$160 for ram. I wouldn't mind getting the new X99 Sabertooth but it's also $150 more. Since X99 has been out for a while was hoping those that have one might be able say whether they would get their boards again or go a different route.

I know it's a bit long winded but can use some input, thanks.

I have been holding off on an x99 build since release mostly because of the motherboard issues I've been reading about. Well, I finally pulled the trigger today on the x99 Sabertooth.

I'll share my experiences tomorrow when I start my build.

The X99 Sabertooth TUF has some good reviews on New Egg I would get that unless you plan to overclock by a lot. Not sure of the overclocking ability of that board I have a Z97 Sabertooth and use it at stock.

I'm looking at the MSI X99 Sli Plus, the X99 Sabertooth, and pry the asus x99-A, out of the 3 the MSI and Sabertooth looks appeal the best. The sabertooth being in the upper tier of cost and cost means waiting pry another month before ordering. The MSI I can order now with ram where as the others I'd have to wait till next month at least. I thought about the EVGA motherboards but read they had some problems but with my s340 case the EVGA boards look great and all the connectors line up perfectly with the openings for the case to include the EATX version.

maybe you could also concider the Asrock Extreme 6.
seems like a sollid board, with decent onboard audio and such.
Not readed about much issues with that particular board.
