I'm curious as to what's taken them so long. I'm hoping that the 390x is going to blow everyone away and put some serious pressure on nVidia.

The rumour is that there was a problem with the supply of HBM. EG, not enough available for what AMD want to do with it.

With launch creeping ever closer, anyone heard some serious rumours about price?

Well they already missed GTA release and they are also going to miss Witcher 3 release aswell. I hope they can manage to come with something faster but if they did have something faster than Nvidia in their hands they would release it already. Wouldn't they ?

All this moan and groan about drivers. I've been running AMD since the 5000 series and I never had any issues. Getting WHQL is rather expensive and costly for every single driver update. Its a cost cut strategy to release new drivers in this form. The only difference between a beta driver and a WHQL is getting it signed by Microsoft. As long as they release drivers and it resolves my issues, I'm happy.

Hopefully when the 300 series drops as well as Zen next year, it will help AMD bounce back and we'll have awesome competition in the future which means lower prices for all.

So 390 at Computex and 390x at E3?

Hmmm...

Since getting a cheap gtx680 a few months ago after many years on amd, I've gotten more crashes in games on the nvidia than amd already, if thats a geforce 'feature' they can keep their 'superior' drivers.

I'm curious for performance numbers, but I'm not interested in buying anymore. NVidia just have the better driver, and G-Sync. I'd rather just wait for Pascal v2 in 2016.

everyone complaining its taking them so long and such when the window between 7000 series and 200 series was just as wide as the 200 series to 300 series will be so they are basically right on time

Well I am glad that you have had no issues, I am also glad they fixed your issues.

Go AMD!

So they "reveal" it on the 18th of June ... so that means the 18th of September before anyone actually gets one?

Sheeze, don't people know how trade shows work? Half to 3/4th of what you see is little more than "smoke and mirrors" and often takes months (sometimes years) for things ACTUALLY to be available.

I remember going to an NAB 2009 show in Vegas and seeing 4k video demonstrations. So when is 4k coming to a living room near you?

Apparently you aren't familiar with what it means when a GPU is shown at a trade show... Different animal, bub.

I anticipate very few units to ship so I already got a 290X ,will get a 390X in September or so.

Pretty sure they're stocking up so that they can meet demand on release. They caught a lot of flak for being out of stock when the miners were buying up all of the 290's/x's so they're probably trying to avoid getting the limelight for being low on stock twice in a row.

Uh... the 200 series was literally all rebrands except for a new flagship like the 300 series is rumored to be (and cut-down Tonga like another year later) and it was very late to compete with Nvidia's flagship at the time. GK110 was ready for launch at least as early as late 2012 when Nvidia launched it with the Tesla K20. AMD took nearly a whole year before they could release any Hawaii products and they didn't even launch with custom or adequate cooler models.

A whole new architectural lineup and likely GM200 as well were ready to go by late 2014 and could have if Nvidia had any real pressure to do so, but now it seems like it's taking AMD many additional months just to push one new flagship out the door. This is not right on time, it's a horribly uncompetitive and late release schedule. AMD's timing is frankly stagnant crap, much as I'm looking forward to Fiji. If this is their idea of a timely release schedule, then as much I fear an Nvidia monopoly then here is some clear evidence on why an AMD one would be terrible as well. They're being beaten silly and they still drag their feet in product development, or so it seems.
