Per your link even i5 can't go over 50 fps

So now you claim sc2 is choppy and laggy on i5 as well thumb.gif

Define smooth game play in comparison to frame rate with cpus (not gpus), because as far as I'm concerned that argument is null and similar to the "look guys, my vishera just feels faster, I feel it in my wrists while using the desktop, the feels bro"

And yes, those i5's do have subpar performance there. It's not exactly a hidden secret that SC2 needs as much single thread performance as you can throw at it.

Enjoy your $350 processor, my entire FX 8310 build is less than that and i'm sure you think you get 5x fps even though you spend 10x the money on your system

For budget builds the fx8 is a great chip and performs great

I run skyrim at downsampled 1440 with 200 mods probably 50 of which are graphical improvements...and I've seen a drop below 60 fps I think twice..both times were using the wars of skyrim mod with probably 100 npcs going crazy on each other...granted I'm running 2x 290 (with no overclock on gpu) but that should site even further fx does well...would I see an extra 10 or 15 fps with a newer Intel sure I would...does that fps difference want to make me buy a 600 dollar setup...nah it doesn't....if I had disposable income I probably would go Intel and if I do build a new rig soon and zen doesn't show me anything I probably will go Intel...but that's irrelevant to the issue..some people will say go Intel no matter what...but when I see 600 vs 100 for sake of argument 25 fps at most I don't see that when requirements are 60 fps at 1080p...

Ok, here is an alternative method of getting it here. The problem is limited to this site only.

Again, why would anyone support regressive programmers?

When discussing performance per dollar in the games that people to point to as being AMD's weak point , in those scenarios going with an i7 would be a bigger waste of money.

So 5+ AMD FX users citing perosnal experience in sc2 and skyrim vs one intel i7 owner thumb.gif

The AMD FX does just as well in skyrim and sc2 as my intel i5/i7 PERIOD

Yup, let's discuss them. They are only two of the most popular games still played widely today. Since no one here can grasp my simple point that the short comings in the single threaded performance is a real issue I'm simply out. I've spent more on AMD processors in my lifetime than I ever have on Intel and it saddens me to see such blind defense of a product that does not stand up to the name FX at all. Then again, what do I know, I actually had an FX-53 back when owning AMD was the proper choice for overall performance.

And yup, just one i7 owner little old me and the big bad gang of FX owners that are too blind to see the argument I am presenting. I mean after owning my fx-8120, fx-8350 and fx-9590 I clearly have no idea how these cpu's work in your eyes. Sorry, can't keep going in circles here. Facts are facts, enjoy your cpu's, like I said, never called them bad, but I called them out on what they are not good at. Sorry if that offense the holy AMD defense force.

The only reason other people aren't posting is simple. They are wiser than me and choose not to go down the same path with the same exact few people in every. single. thread.

My personal cinebench 15 shows a fx8 4.5 is almost as fast single IPC as the 3.3 locked i5 but much faster multicore and costs much less

Look, i am sorry to barge in for matters i don't follow (games), because last time i had tried to play Skyrim that my cousin had bought back in the days, i was about to vomit after 10 minutes, due to motion sickness. But, see the irony, last month he gave me his DVD again, together with a list of mods, including one that eliminates the camera wobbling. And i finally managed to play it (without vomiting) thanks to that mod. The setting is at High Textures, medium decall, low shadows and low radial blur, x2 anisotropic, no AA. My FX is at 4Ghz. The game actually uses a texture overhaui mod too.

So, when you say that the FX has problem with Skyrim (dips), i am sorry, but i can only laugh. This is with about 92 mods on my NON overclocked HD6570 1GB DDR3. Whiterun. 1920x1080. FPS counter on upper right corner.

What does this tell us? If mdocod was here, he would repeat, that a CPU can either play or not play a game. If it can play the game, the rest is question of GPU (how much detail your GPU can handle). So, if your PC can't run Skyrim with a gamers GPU (i presume), while my FX at a mere 4Ghz clock with a lowly HD6570 DDR3 can play it (within the restraints of my GPU), then there is something wrong with your video settings. Either drivers or my guess, ENBoost settings. Because even my cousin, who was supposed to be the guru that gave me his stuff and all, was wrong about the Enboost settings. Or your Windows installation isn't in such good health as you want to believe it is. I found the correct ones myself after digging a lot on my own. For example, in videomemory size, he was claiming i should put 1GB, because that's what my GPU has. He was wrong. The correct was more than 6144MB, which is a more conservative value that i use.

Where i actually have a noticeable drop, is in the countryside, because of the texture mod i use. Then, i remember to overclock my GPU to keep at 30 fps. Bottom line is, the game engine runs more than smoothly with the FX, despite the mods (and i run several script heavy mods). The graphics details are then dependent on GPU and GPU settings. If the FX was unable to run the game properly, i wouldn't be able to play. The graphic details, are a matter of GPU. My GPU is my problem, not my CPU. If i put more anisotropic or more AA, nothing changes for the CPU. These are all GPU dependent functions. Same for heavier textures. That's the job of the GPU's RAM to load and handle. The CPU itself can run the game engine with no problem.

In dungeons, i am getting usually 60 fps stable all the time. Now, i understand that you superhumans can actually detect without looking when you are at 50 fps instead of 60, but i just can't see why the CPU is at fault with this game... If the CPU was the faulty part, it would be so at any graphical detail level, because the CPU doesn't render graphics. How come i am getting 40+ fps with a trash card if the CPU is the problem?

P.S: My GPU overclocks to 800Mhz core, 900Mhz (1800) RAM and all FPS gets better (proof that i am GPU bound). But above shots are at stock 650/800.
