I think he was joking... Maybe.

Reviewers receive the game, or early/demo versions, before the rest. That's why there is reviews of games once the NDA lifts. I would very much expect the same is true for this game and highly doubt CDPR didn't send out any review copies.

Beats me. All I read was that the game had leaked early. Perhaps these guys got the early build or review copies and they are just showing that?

More damage control.

Textures are the least of problems. The lighting and geometry will never get back to pre-downgrade levels.

It's possible, that would explain why they talked to one of the sites to remove the PS4 / PC comparison video because it was showing pre-release code but didn't say a word about them not having the right to have the game in that state. Then again, I don't see much advantage to give reviewers unfinished code. Sure, they can evaluate gameplay and the story and evaluate graphics later in the review process, that's possible.

Well, at least adding more tessellation options shouldn't require much work on their part and should improve the textures if they are indeed unchanged. The question is will they, or better yet, are they legally able to without some contractual fines from console makers?

I have to say that my standards are a bit high right now, after having played both The Talos Principle and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, as both use Photogrammetry (they don't even use Tessellation) and that gives you very detailed environments.

man, even if the game looked pretty much exactly the same in terms of detail and lighting, peopl would be complaining about colors...something i find especially disturbing considering we just finished a decade of monochromatic AAA games.

They're lying to us an it's way too obvious. Looks like we've lost another PC developer.

Yeah, because we don't care about developers who make good games. We care about developers who give us some extra graphics settings that the consoles can't run.

I at least agree with this part. I really can't understand what people's obsession with "dark and gritty" graphics is.

If you want something to feel "dark", it seems to me like it would be much better to have a more realistic, vibrant world and put the "darkness" in the actions and events. At least as opposed to just having an unbelievably drab and dull crapsack world where everything ever is depressing.

I think the video posted above looks pretty darn good to be honest. Just goes to show that the "PC master race" crowd can be a little bit ridiculous when it comes to this particular topic. I'm pretty sure that the real issue here is that Witcher 3 is even on consoles at all...
